Carbon fiber interest?

Hello fellas,
one last thing before i hit the sack.

I forgot to mention I can make CF/Kevlar, aramid parts as well. I fly r/c sailplanes as well...DLG to be specific (at the moment anyhow, lol)
anyhow, i refuse to pay the price for quality, niche, hand crafted wings/fuse....although very very nice...why not learn? so I built my own raspberry pi CNC hotwire foam cutter to cut wing cores...the we layup a cf layup, and stuff in a vacuum bag. experimenting with the infusion method of pulling the epoxy through the material rather than roller it on. anyhow, the result is a mirrir finish sexy *** piece of cf! since I am looking for fairings for my bikes im thinking about making my own.

so, I need to figure out and shape a piece of foam for each part then go from there....

so if I were succesful at this, would anyone be down to join in? purchase a set for basically material cost and maybe a small fee for the time if there were a lot of interest.
Of course, the more people to pitch in on CF cloth cost...the cheaper final product ;-)

just a thought

goodnight

Re: Carbon fiber interest?

It would depend on the quality and price. But I'd like to see what the product looks like.

Polini CF reeds are about $29.95, I just got a nice very smooth sheet of Carbon Fiber .5mm, ( .020" ) thick 200mm by 300mm, for around $8 shipped, going to experiment making my own reeds, and adding epoxy for more thickness. Sheet will make about 10 sets of CF reeds for BZM, Polini, you name it.

If you could make a fiber glass fairing of the grc rr front and seat fairing that would be awesome.

Mine is .020, .5mm is pretty thin, next was 1mm, .040" a little thick, I have some CF tube, tons of stuff online at Banggood on the .com, there got some .008" pure copper sheet roll foe custom Cag reed & piston port base gaskets. They ship Worldwide and 95% of the stuff is free shipping.

Re: Carbon fiber interest?

i was looking into building molds for fiberglass fairings on my polinis to get around having to use the stock plastic stuff which is really brittle. never got around to doing so.

Re: Carbon fiber interest?

You know that you can put fiberglass under the China plastic and make it very strong. The Banshee Sho I bought from a member here did that to the MT-A2 Cag body/tank cover, worked out very nice.

Re: Carbon fiber interest?

I love carbon fiber but it always seems to be very expensive.

What do you need the CF for?? I get mine from China, a 300mm x 500mm sheet, .5mm ( .020" thk. ) for $9. My plan is to cut my own carbon fiber reeds. I got some CF tubing 10mm and 12mm ID and a sheet of 1mm thick ( .040" ) to experiment with. For bodywork I would use fiberglass on the under side, or to patch small areas.
