Re: No power to Cdi

The CDI is powered off one coil of 6 on the stator plate under the left engine cover, the other 5 coils make 13.7 volts AC which is run thru a voltage rectifier to make DC voltage for your battery and lights. That power is run thru a 10 amp round glass auto fuse then to the battery and the key. First try to find the fuse holder, then you might need to test your stator plate wires out of the eng. cases with a voltmeter, to check coil Ohms 450 to 550 Ohms w/ meter on 2,000 Ohms. It powers your CDI which fires the coil. Could be a loose wire, broken wire. The engine runs on it's own, my X18 battery has been dead 4 yrs., I just use the kick starter. I have a few wiring dia. I will post tomorrow, I am on my pad and the photos are on my laptop.
