wvpr 204 wont run

just got my wvpr from a buddy, ran for a bit,it started turning off after a bit.when id start it up,the time got less and less that it would run and then turn off.he told me that the white switch was only needed to be turned 90 degress when warming up then turn it back. i dont know much about bikes so i didnt question it and did like he told.when i called him back and told him what i was doing, he said i was an idiot and that i mightve blown the engine.is this the problem?

Re: wvpr 204 wont run

The white knob is the fuel petcock.....Up and down is on,,,left to right is closed.......pic is shown in the "on" position\\

Theres a metal lever a lil to the left of it;-Thats the choke ,,,flick it up,,ckoke is on,,,flick it down,,,choke is off

Theres a petcock mod and 1/4" fuelline upgrade I suggest you tackle to eliminate a few problems that will arise down the road if you dont..

Re: wvpr 204 wont run

First thing to try would be to see what the condition of the sparkplug is....

If its dry its a fuel delivery problem .....Wet a spark issue

I would start by removing the carb from engine,,

removing the petcock from the carb,,,

disassemble the petcock,,,

fill void with JB Weld,,

let cure 24 hours,,

drill straight through petcock body from top to bottom with a 13/64" drillbit...........

reinstall the petcock

disassemble carb,,,

totally clean it out

reset float

reassemble carb with modded petcock,, new 1/4' fuellines,,new 1/4" high flow fuelfilter and inline 1/4" fuel shutoff made by stens.........

remove the fueltank and wash it out,,,drill the output hole open first to remove any casting slag that slows/hinders proper flow,,,fresh 93 octane mixed to 40:1 is optimal fueltype and premix ratio amount

remove the reed plate and make sure not to rip gaskets...if you do rip the gaskets new ones can be made by purchasing rolled rubber fiber gasket material and cutting a new set with an exacto blade and hole puncher..........

Make sure the reeds are sealing properly and reassemble carefully not to cause any airleaks and such

Install reedplate and intake back onto engine making sure to check the plastic stock intake for leaks.........

put in a new NGK sparkplug # BM6A gapped to .030"

remove the pullstarter,,check the flywheel, pickup for rust and oxidation,,clean both up and regap to .020",,then reinstall pullstarter...............

After that your bike should startup and run great if it has proper spark and compression aswell...................good luck

Re: wvpr 204 wont run

There is no manual, never heard it called a wvpr 204, sounds like a Cag engine to me, 47 to 49cc, 2 stroke. Have to check everything out like Cam2 says. Check your compression, then spark, then gas. Try putting gas in the plug hole after you take it out to check it, put it back see if it starts.

Re: wvpr 204 wont run

The wvpr-204 is a newer 2010 cateye so youll have a pumper carb...................

Re: wvpr 204 wont run

Thanks Cam2, then it must be a 15mm Walbro copy carb. I would still tilt it up with the throttle open and put alittle gas in the carb, then try to start it. If it starts like that, then look at your fuel system for problems, one is the pump diaphram is not pumping gas. That will keep it from running for sure. My scooter came w/ one have 2 new ones in a box. I took that carb off my 49cc Zenoah piston port and put a WT Walbro813, great carb for port engines. Is your intake manifold alum or plastic?? A boost bottle w/ boost fitting on top the manifold helps alot too.

i would also try starter fluid, its the most easyest to narrow things down..

Re: wvpr 204 wont run

ok i have the same wvpr-204 bike and it use to run while ago. then it stop running. so i did what i read on here. like i takin the carp apart and the petcock. i have made the hole in petcock larger by useing 1/8 drill bit and check everything else. then put it all back together i also change fuel line and fuel filter and got new sparkpulg same kind. and still didn't work. so i going to buy the starter fluid stuff and try that. i'm also wondering could it be 2 stroke oil fuel i got. it motomaster formula 1 premium 2-stroke motorcycle. i did try 25:1 and 40:1 mix and didn't work. so maybe when i get the starter fluid stuff i pick up the octane mixed stuff.. or would that matter.

Have you check your reed plate and reeds, behind the intake manifold, and your coil also?? Them and the carb are the most problem causing parts of the bike.

Have you checked your spark plug for a spark. I just put a little gas down the carb, don't know what bike you have wvpr 204???
