X7 REPSOL build

ok so i really havent worked on my X18 in a while but we will talk about that later. so when i moved to ohio i had 2 X7's one was a parts expiriment bike, the other just kinda sat there. it ran but i did a head chop and pretty much made a monster out of my yellow x7. so i was bored and completely disassembled the other x7. this is the build. please, ive already make a good 49cc motor. but im hoping cam2 or one of the other resident mad professors will chime in and tell me some more tips and tricks to unlocking even more power out of this thing.">">">">">

heres some more pictures of the head chop and of the gauges. has anybody sucessfully managed to run CVT on these?

    Looking good so far..........

Setting up a 2 pc head for performance is easier to do than a 1 pc head and will yield way more h/p's

When you setup your 2pc cylinder you want to set the head on the thickest basegasket or glue a couple together so the piston gets so low in the cylinder the pistontop is even with the lower deck so it isnt impinging on the exhaust port at BDC ...............

After you set the exhaust port without having to index the piston its then time to set the squishband...............Set your squish to .030" by rechopping the top...Bear in mind to make sure the copper sealing washer thickness is factored in when rechopping.......

Widen the exhaust port only as you have sucessfully advanced the exhaust port with the basegasket no raising or piston indexing is needed as with a 1 pc head.......

Widen the intake port 1/8" on each side and drill the purgeport hole to 1/8" but make sure you dont go too far that it catches a ring........Youll also need to trim the skirt on the piston on the intake side......Dont trim the whole skirt straight accross....Trace the exhaust port roof out with a scribe the height of the basegasket used or even with the intake port roof at TDC and dremel out the shape..........

With the higher cylinder head profile set on thicker basegaskets the transfer ports raise up to deliver more fuel into a smaller cylinder space and than inturn delivers lots of bang .........

After setting up your engine and tuning it in youll have one powerful 2 smoker that will bring a smile to your face...

I wish my engine wasnt taken but one day will build another......Good luck with your build-up.............

all the stuff to assemble the engine is on the way! i wanna get a GOOD pipe for it, also what carb should i use? im leaning towards a stock carb. never really had much tuning problems with em, i also did a expiriment with shaving the skirt on the the intake side of the piston. i went up a 1/8 of a inch but im thinking about a 1/4 inch. on the pipe subject im probably gonna borrow my pocketbikeparts.com "fatty" pipe. i really want that PBU tuned pipe, but thats kinda pricey

thanks for the reply! i was wondering when you were going to chime in. ok so i was wondering about CVT. i know that the way the engine sits in the X7 is entirely backwards. so i took the cvt apart( i really should post pics but theres really nothing anyone could gain by doing so) and i took the drivin shaft from the pulley off and had a custom one made so the sprocket turns in the right direction, but the CVT unit itself is too long and sits too high. it would put the chain right into the swingarm mounting tube. id have to cut the bottom out of the frame and drop it several inches. and skoot the engine up about 2 inches. thats a project for a different day though
