Boots/Shoes

I saw the Falco minimoto boots on midsouthminimoto.com.

However, do regular racing-type motorcycle boots work? Is there an advantage for those using minimoto shoes/boots as compared to the ones meant for regular-sized bike racing?

Yes regular roadrace boots will work but make sure you get some that are flexable as some are very stiff especially around the ankles. The only real advantage is weight in some cases but the roadrace boots will offer more a tiny bit more protection. The guys I raced with used Sidi's.

Re: Boots/Shoes

Get minimoto specific boots!! I rode my sportbike down to the races one day while my wife brought the bikes and trailer. I didn't have any other boots so I wore my $300+ race boots and ooooh did that suck. I broke a peg and dragged my right leg a bit through then turns. I wore right through the boot sides! I can see every layer of construction in my boots now.

Not to mention, race boots are extremely stiff because they are designed to NOT let your ankles "over-extend" in an accident. Unfortunately, our pocket bike riding position resembles exactly what a post accident mangled body looks like on the side of the road. Knees near your ears, ankles bent over at ninety degrees and a Hunchback of Notre Dame crouch!!

I'm buying minimoto high top shoes before next season starts.
