Cleaning Sweat from inside leathers

Hey guys, I finally got my leathers today and the guy that own this suit didn't wash it and it has B.O. in the arm pits that will knock you out. I was wondering how do i clean the inside of the suit, since its mesh, can i jsut scrub it with a mild soap and water? Or I have to get it professionally cleaned and where would i get them cleaned? I live in Los Angeles if anyone knows where i can get my leathers cleaned. thanks

If i don't get a response to this question, then I'm jsut going to handwash my leathers in cold water & dishwasher soap. I'll let it dry and if need be some oils for leathers. But, when i played ice hockey, we had leather gloves, and everytime they stunk like all hell, mom jsut threw them in the washer and let them air dry. They becaame soo hard, but after using them for 2 outings, they became soft again. I'll see how they turn out.....my leathers are all jack up anyways...i got them used of of ebay.

I know with leathers...most people want to be carefull with them.....It's hard to say....If they are thrashed and stink like hell....then you could put them in the washer with cold water...And if you have some SHOUT around.... I would spray some of that on the inside of the underarms...after you cleaned them in the washer.... wipe them down with a towel the best you can ...hang them out to dry and use alot of mink oil....That's what I use on my son's 200.00 baseball glove...I know that would clean them really good....and you would feel comfortable putting them on....knowing they are clean!!!
Remember only if there thrashed.....and need desprite cleaning to the inside....I would never recommend If they were newer....

For my son's leathers...just to clean them up (Outside)... I use Saddle Soap....It cleans very good ..especially the oil on the back (from exhaust)....cleans great and softens and protects the leather....Saddle Soap is found in any shoe store... Even seen it at Smart Foods grocery store...Good Luck

ok I cleaned the inside with cold water and dishwashing soap. It dried for 4 days and when i went to go use them lastnite for about 20 minutes, I could still smell the B.O left from the suit. How will i get this smell out? Do i have to wash it again?, with stronger solution and what kind? And do you let them dry in the sun or jsut outside away from direct sunlight? I let them dry on my patio without direct sunlight and it took 4 days, granted it was raining for 1 and half days too here in LA.

If you wash them in the washer with Laundy ditergent....and spray shout in the underarms....It will come out clean and oder free....cold water ...gentle cycle...when the washer is done ...dry them off the best you can with a dry towel and put it in direct sunlight if possible.....I know this isn't the greatest thing to do for leather....but it will get the stink out and like I said you will feel comfortable putting them on....When you are cleaning them with the dishwashing soap you are probably just getting it deeper into the leather....Good Luck...

Like I said I would never do this to newer leathers.....but If there thrashed and have an oder.....That's what I would do...and would want to feel comfortable putting them on oder free....and when dry apply alot of mink oil to them...or any type of leather softener....

LOL....Nobody will be riding behind him...they will all be in front of him so they wont have to smell his leathers...LOL.....Jk....WEENEE ....How are they?...Did they come out ok?....I know the washer machine isn't the best thing for leathers...but that should do the trick...and you said they were all jacked up anyways.......But you will feel more comfortable when you put them on knowing they are clean.....Let us know.

I threw them into the washer today and I lucky had a bottle of SHOUT around too. I spray the shoulders and underarms with shout and breifly throughout someother parts too.......Then I threw them in the washer and put it on the normal cycle with cold water. I told my mom to use a little bit more detergent to get the funk out once and for all. I know deterget must be doing a number to the leathers fibers right now, but hey, I got this suit for 80 bucks and 20 bucks shipping off of ebay.....I plan on throwing them under the hot Cali sun tomorrow and hope they dry quicker then before. I think i have some leather care products but if not I'll just dump my bottle of Yamilube 2 stroke oil hehehe on my leathers to soften them up hehe j/p

Ok guys, I give up....Yesterday after drying in the sun, the B.O was still there. I went riding lastnite, and when i took out the suit, i smelled my cloth to see if the odor will transfer to my shirt, but it did not as much as b4, however.....I hate B.O...So..I'm going to get another suit hopefully with less wear. I want a brand new one but too expensive.

Dam...That sucks WEENEE.....I thought for sure that would do the trick....You can always wash them again...You have nothing to lose....put a little more laundry detergent and shout under the arms and wash them again.....It will only get cleaner....and for the odor it sure can't get any worse......Good Luck!!

yea..I'll try clean them one more time....but i think i'll jsut buy some "New" leather pants and attach it to my jacket, it would be cheaper and i would feel much better.......going to try out the two piece look...LAstnite, when i went riding, my leathers saved my @$$ real good lastnite. Coming out of a left turn, when i went for the transition from left to right turn, i overcompensated and wiggleed the bike and highsided, doing a superman for 5 feet then skidding on the ground for a good three feet +....I saw a 3 foot leather skid mark on the ground so thats how i know. Thank God for leathers.

When i read your thread about the B.O that came with that leather suit i wanted to throw up !I hope you burned those leathers.Instead of wanting to race for money you should save up for a NEW suit...just my 2cents...

hence forth the new pants.<<<<<<process of breaking them in, but my leather suit for some reason lost all its smell. I'm going to bring my leather suit to the dry cleaners jsut for the hell of it, to get it cleaned one last time, for my sanity. After riding with the leatehr pants and leather suit, i feel much safer and comfortabe in the suit rather then the pants, partly due to the fact that the pants are kinda tight in the crotch area(shoulda got a bigger size since we are minimotoing it), but i'm able to manuever with them. If i had to choose, i would choose the 1 piece over the 2 piece action, becasue i feel snugg tight like an astronaut but plenty flexible, which helps me steer better. Call me wierd but thats the way it feels like. The 2 piece, feels like my torso is separating when i make those turns, easier for the upper body since your not connceted to your pants so directly.
