Is a dirtbike helmet fine for pocket biking?

Rocks can be just as hard as asphault. Most dirtbike helmets are made out of a plastic blend. And you have the advantage of better air and visibility. Just wear some goggles. Bugs in the eyeballs can be so distracting.

Off-road helmets are a softer plastic than the polycarbonate shells found on most full face street helmets. If it hits the ground when you crash, replace it. Some street helmets are being made out of kevlar. Which is still a plastic, but it can handle a greater impact. Which goes along with high speed of GP racing. But even those should be replaced after a crash.

If you're riding competetively, I would highly recommend a full-face helmet to protect your face from debris and such.

If you're leaning towards a MX model based on price, you can find *** / Snell approved helmets for under $100 on eBay.

HJC's are great lids and certainly price effective, but more importantly, meet and/or exceed industry standards in protection. The polycarbonate shields are scratch resistant and also meet and/or exceed VESC-8 standard.

I bought a THH *** approved dirtbike helmet, its pretty big. I have a Bell Motorcycle helmet that was in a motorcycle accident but it doesnt have any cracks on it just scrapes. Im leaning toward using that because it has a full face and a visor and its a bit smaller looking.

I race with a Shoei streetbike helmet.. and my son races with a Fox Ricky Carmichael replica mx helmet....which I think is fine....Just make sure its a FULL FACE HELMET and it's in good condition....Also when using a mx helmet make sure you have googles....

Any helmet that has been in a crash should be checked out if wanted to use for saftey...I mean whats the point if its not going to do the job of protecting the most important thing..your noggin. You can go to motocycle shops and get helmets like kbc tk77 for about a 110 sometimes shops have deals like cycle gears have..also these helmets are *** and snell approved. You can also get the HJC brand for around 140 shop around on internet shops like helmetdepot, helmet harbor, pipecity

i got really lucky at my motorcycle shop they sold me a hjc helmet for 80 bucks because the rubber part on the bottom had fallen off all i had to do was glue it back on. Great deal for such a simple cosmetic flaw.

my old helmet was a full face i had a new motox 1 on sat cuz now i got a minicrosser yay
