Karting protective jump suits?

Just wanted to know if the karting suits were just about the same as one for a mini bike if there is such a thing? Shift racing has a good deal on a kart suit. I need to get my son a suit for when he rides at the track. Just want to make sure he is properly protected since hes only 7.

Thanks,

No they wont really protect as well as one would think. How much do you want to spend on a suit?

Thanks, for the reply. Well i really dont know what to expect to spend since we are new to the sport, but like i said hes only 7 yrs old and price isnt as important as his safety but for now i will just say between $150.- $250.

Thanks, alot!

This suit is a little bit more, but deffenitly worth the money.

Comes with all the padding and leather you need to protect your son.

Thanks, alot sir... I definately dont mind paying the $329. for him a suit, but was wondering since he will just go to the track for fun at this time is that suit still reccomended or would you suggest something else for learning how to ride.

Re: Karting protective jump suits?

Since the kids grow so fast at that age, I would try and go with some used gear. If you can find a used kids leather or textile race jacket (which will have padding in the correct places) and some heavy duty jeans, with a set of strap on knee sliders, you're set. There is often more used mx (motocross) kids gear available than minimoto gear. I would also look into an external strap on spine (back) protector.

Thanks, alot Fritz. That was gonna be my next ? since they grow so fast at that age. Can i buy a textile or leather jacket from a local motorcyclke shop? Id rather take him in person since size charts can only be so accurate online.

Thanks, again!
