I am currently using sidi motorcycle boots, but i look for some minimoto shoes. So far i've seen diadora, zocchi, falco, and stylmartin. What shoes do you think is the best out of all of them. One of my friends has stylmartins and he said his toe slider keeps falling off. So racers gimme your 2 cents on shoes. pros and cons
Dm racer,
I would go with falcos I've never had a problem with them.
they seem to be very durable and comfortable you can pick them up from
Midsouthminimoto.com
those flashy minimoto racing shoes may have plastic ankle and toe sliders but my timberlands have leather sliders all over! they are also availible in the hard steel toe versions for added toe protection!
The Diadoras are ok but fit big. They are pretty comfy nicely made with the
replaceable sliders but I noticed mine came loose in the rear seam just after
3 wears . Since I am on a mid bike I will go back to road race boots instead
I've always worn the Joe Rocket Atomics, which are very comfy, reasonably priced and have never failed me. Toe sliders have never came off either. If I were to switch, it would be to the Falco's.
I love my joe rocket "Atomics"! They're cheap and they do the job......

I like my Stylemartins and have not had any sliders fall off, but the toe sliders are thin. They seem to be a descent density like other sliders, but they're only about a half inch in thickness so you can burn through them fast. I always touch my toes in turns so I burn through them in a few hours of hard riding. Then again I can burn through those Zocchi knee pads in a day too. I've tried to put thicker sliders on the toes but then they just touch down earlier and keep me from leaning the bike over hard.
These shoes have other pads that have stainless steel spheres molded in located on the ankles and in in the middle area of the foot. I hardly touch the middle pads and never touch the ankle pads in turns so these don't get replaced really. Problem is the replacement pad set is $20 for all 6 pads. I've since been making my own toe sliders for the shoes and am experimenting with denser plastics.
I guess I just need higher pegs so my toe slider issue might not be an issue for you. The shoes themselves are really nice. I have no problem bending my ankles and they fit well. You can see the quality of construction when you get them. I think they're worth $100 considering the cost of regular Nike basketball shoes that fall apart in a few months. I used to wear tennis sneakers but burned through them in one night so shoes with sliders are a must if you touch down a lot. No matter which brand you get, make sure you can get replacement sliders or you're hosed.
I have been wearing the falcos for 10 months now and have never had any problems with them what so ever.If you decide to go with either the stylmartin's or falco's give midsouthminimoto a call and ask for Ricky...
how is your riding style? foot placement on the pegs? the only way you would scrape toe is if your foot hangs off the pegs alot.

I raced with the Stylmartins and didnt like how they felt. I sold them and bought the Joe Rocket Atomics. They feel real light and the soles are more comfy than the Stylmartins IMO. The toe sliders have better adjustablity and are way thicker than the Stylmartins. The two things that I dont like about the Atomics are, the soles have real soft compound so they wear faster than a normal shoe. I guess the purpose of having softer soles is so that they can grip the side of the bike better. And the other thing is that no matter how tight I lace them and/or strap up the velcro strap, they still tend to get loose for some reason on me. But if I had to buy another pair it still would be the Atomics.
I ride like most, with the sole of my foot vertical up against the engine. I ride a Lucky 7 and even with the pegs at the highest possible location, they're pretty low. That's why I scrape up my toe sliders, the pegs are just too low. I'll be getting a DM midi soon so hopefully the higher pegs will keep my feet from scraping pavement.

The Joe Rocket shoes are the best bang for your buck when it comes to mini-moto racing/riding. When Joe Rocket came out with the Atomic they actually intended them to be for casual sport riding on big bikes but mini-moto riders thought otherwise. Joe Rocket products tend to fit larger then other sportbike gear and yes the soles are very soft so as to stick to the footpegs of sportbikes alot better. The only drawback is if they come in contact with the chain then they are pretty much toast but they are soft as well as comfy.
yo marvin..... try wearing 2 pairs of socks when you ride. i had the same problem when the shoes started feeling loose.
