Stockton aint to bad. I get there from Vallejo in 1.5 hours. You can practice every Sat. from 10am to 12pm at LeMans Karting in Fremont for $20.
PBGP/Vallejo Speedway is opening up for practice on March 25th and racing season starts April 6th. Look for the PBGP threads in the "Racing associations/Northwest". This will keep you updated.
Back in the day we use to ride in Hercules every Friday night w/ about 60 bikes. I found the spot, blew it up and got everyone out there. It was even published in Popular Mechanics magazine! Anyhow, that spot is a gonner.
I know some guys practice out in the Sunnyvale area occasionally but I think its a invitation only type thing. Never been there due to that fact. Some of the guys I race with have a couple of private spots. I cant tell you about em' cause I dont know you yet. Maybe show up at one of the races this year meet a few of the local guys including myself and then come out to the practice spots.
There is one spot I have never had a problem at in Hercules but I only used it when I really needed it. Its off of San Pablo ave. between Hercules and Rodeo at the top of the hill. Its the very first building you see. Unless you setup cones your just gonna be going in a BIG circle around the parking lot that goes around the peramiter of the building.
