Well walmart to be honest has everything you would need to just "cruise" around. I got my helmet there, its *** approved as well. And full face bike helmet. They have elbow and knee pads there, but i dont bother with that.

pretty squidly advice, you'll learn the hard and painful way why people wear the gear they do.

as for where to get gear it isn't walmart. midsouth minimoto or devils stable carry gear, also you can try newenough.com tricktape.com kneedraggers.com denniskirk.com local motorcycle shop or some deals come up on fleabay.

cheap gear is still going to cost you more then your bike. Helmet will run you about 100-150 or more, gloves 30 or more, jacket another 100, pants 100 again, those prices are for "cheap gear"

sounds like alot but ask anyone who has had roadrash what they would have paid to not expirence the pain they endured. Roadrash isn't something that hurts for only a day either.

I agree roadrash and even a broken bone is not cool If you can't afford new at least go used. Alot of used gear for cheap online these days.

I'm on the fence. Wal mart is ok for parkinglot cruising(in my book) as long as you ride smart. Now the good BELL motorcycle helmets are probably like 70 but it's hard to find a walmart that has them. If they do they'll be in the AUTOMOTIVE section9most likely.) The little motocross/bmx helmets they have, well I personally don't see a big difference but I'm sure you will if you happen to wreck. If you have a little cash, then I would go with the real deal, but if you don't like me, somethings better than nothing. Anout your mom, well, talk to your dad and see how he is about it. Most of the time the Dad can over ride or convince the mom. Don't worry, most moms are that way anyways, promice her you'll be safe and that should show her. Oh and for sure, be responsible in other situations that may have nothing to do with it because I promise you she'll notice. GET SOME GEAR CAUSE SOMETHINS BETTA DIN NOTHIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

http://www.foxracing.com/us/en/fox/Fox Racing is a major player and is the tommy hilfiger of motorsports. Their gear is top quality and built by Oakley with rider in mind. Order gloves one size larger than you normally wear though. Most of their stuff is more Downhill and Motocross oriented but their gloves are great.

You could buy my gloves if they'll fit you. As for the other gear..I'd advise against buying anything that your trusting your protection in from walmart. You could MTB or Dirtbike chest protectors(100$), leather pants or jeans(20-50$), and some knee/elbow pads(20$). And then a used Helmet..

When I first started out I went to the local thrift store...I got knee and elbow pads and a sweet bright red Micheal Jackson look alike leather jacket for $20-30 cdn I already had the helmut from my mx days, but you should always buy a NEW helmut you don't know what a previous owner might have done to it and lets face it....it's protecting the most important part of your body. If you do have some money I picked up a 1pce leather suit for $150 us off fleabay just shop around you'll find something.

You parents don't want you protected???? Are they drunk? Did they eat lead based paint chips as a kid?? ***? If your riding up and down the road and on sidewalks your an idiot...But if your riding in an empty parking lot and being responsible I think they need to be to...I'll try to find the website it's a girls story about not wearing the proper gear filled with many gross and painful looking pics...She came off a real bike in jeans and shirt. I'll get back to you with it and make sure your parents read it.

Regardless of the post date the girls name is Brittney Morrow her story is here:

http://www.speedfreakinc.com/safety/...n_learned.html

Mods you have to allow this link because her story needs to be told for everyone in the sport and those just getting involved regarding the wearing of proper gear while riding.

Thanks Joe

Re: where's the best place for getting protection??? also need some help wit the pare

The pain she has gone through and will continue to go through will forever be a reminder to her of what can and does happen. "It'll never happen to me..." is one of the most stupid thoughts anyone can ever have. I personally know the pain of having gravel removed from my right calf with tweezers one piece at a time. That was an accident at only 60kph (~40mph) on my sportbike. I also broke two ribs and my right pinky in that accident. It would have been worse if I hadn't been wearing helmet, jacket, gloves and boots. My helmet had a deep graze on it.

Just because our pocketbikes are small and slow compared to a 1:1 sportsbike doesn't mean you won't suffer a head injury, or break bones, or suffer from road rash. ALWAYS wear a good quality helmet, gloves, boots and suit.

Thanks for posting that link, Reptillian. I agree that it should be required reading for everyone.

Thanks for the confirm Red...I don't know her personally but what she appears to have gone through and still being alive and willing to share her story and pic's as graphic as they are, are truly a testament to the strength of her spirit. I am one of the lucky ones...I have never taken a serious fall(knock on wood) wether on street bike, pocket or motocross. But I will always wear my gear whenever, were ever I ride
