12" Tires

Is anyone using anything other than TT91's on their 12" machines? If so, what are you using and how are they working for you?

Some of the guys within our club are using Bridgestone Battle-ax tires, and like them. I may even try a pair as my next set.

Some of the guys in the mid-west are using Sava's as well. I heard they offer the softest compound, which means they will not have a long life as the other popular 12" tires used.

Where's everyone getting the Sava brand? There was a distributor right here in SoCal not too long ago, but they seem to have disappeared.

Re: 12" Tires

yeah, I remember all those posts too. As for where they are, dunno. If I recall, there had been a lot of chat on the ******** forum or on a Texas racer/riders forum. Do an inernet search and I am sure you'll get some hits.

Seems Metrakit is Sava Sponsored......after doing a google search

Sava West went out of buisness. Denny was one of our club sponsors. Google M & M racing or Cam Moorehead (owner) he carries most everything except Vee Rubbers.

Re: 12" Tires

Yeah, when racing slowed down and demand for 6.5's declined, Sava West disappeared. Denny was a good guy. He was always at the track supporting and sponsoring local venues down here and unlike most, he was interested in the sport flourishing and not a fast buck.

I've talked to Cam before. Definitely a good guy to deal with.

Thanks for the information, bruddah.

I think if we tried the Sava's and ended up liking them, we'd have to get a set of tire warmers.

I am pretty sure I can get the Sava's and I am not trying to advertise but trying to help out. Let me know if you want me to look into it.

Re: 12" Tires

Looks like the 12" Sava rain tires are available at the moment for 130 for the set. I also think the non rains are available for the same price.

Re: 12" Tires

The sava MC31's are nice tires but like stated before they don't last long at all! I've always ran the TT91's but since nobody can get fronts, I got a hold of the B-stones 601ss tires and LOVE them! They are sticky, but last longer then the Sava's.

Pierce, why can you get/sale the Sava MC31's for $130 a set where Cam Moorehead has them for $180 a set??

Re: 12" Tires

Not sure why? I just checked the price of them through my importer and thats the going rate.

As for how long they last.... they are soft sticky tires not sure exactly how long they last as i run 17's.

Brian,

Do you mind sharing with us where you get your B-stones?

Also, can you specify exact tire size (frnt & rr) too.

Re: 12" Tires

A teammate of mine put on a set and after 4, ten lap sprint races and a few laps in practice they looked like they had maybe 4 more sprint races left. I don't think he liked them as much as the TT91's or 601's because he crashed 2 times that day and said the tires just let go with no warning. But, he did also say the stuck like glue... so I think they don't slide well like the dunlops or B-stones.

Re: 12" Tires

Daren, the 601SS are the same size as the Dunlops that came on the NSR.
100/90-12 front
120/80-12 rear

The rear is like a slick on the side, very sticky and the front has small groves. I think I like these better then the TT91's, but I'll be racing at a different track this weekend and I'll let you know if my lap times are the same or better with these thent he TT91's. Here is a pic of the tires on my NSR...

I get the tires at a local motorcycle super store here in Columbus called www.IRONPONY.com I'm sure they can ship out a set... but I believe the B-stone 601SS are on back order as well as the front Dunlops.
