Never heard of converting from a 6v to 12v. Altho' you may contact TCR (Team Calimari Racing) and see if it's even possible.
However, an option is with a total loss system, replacing with 12v rechargable battery. Obviously, you'll have to convert all the electrical components to par w/ the 12v battery.
Or replace the YSR motor with a motor that has a 12v charging system built in, i.e. Derbi, NSR, or Lifan (4-stroke).......to name a few.
My main reason for wanting to convert to 12 volt is mainly for light output. I would like to have brighter lights so I can see better at night. I have learned that they have a seprate lighting coil (stator). From the info that I have found so far, it might be better to have it rewound. I am still doing research on the subject. I was hoping maybe someone has already done it.
I would look into a "total loss" system. Mentioned all over ysr50.com and ysrridersunite.com. Pretty much means running a 12v bat. to run your light system and the bike runs itself on it's own 6v power.... It can work if you don't mind charging your bat. after every ride... Or do a motor transplant that runs 12v, also in meany threads in the above mentioned sites.
