Derbi's are huge, huge sized bikes. I've seen a 2001 in person and they are the same size a full Kawi636.
there's something to be said about the 2/3 size of the YSR/NSR sizes. they are less intimidating on the roads and you more of the "what the heck is that" factor but to each their own. |
True, the YSR is less intimidating, and I'm not sure if that's said to be a good thing or not? YSR's can be quite scary at times on the road strictly because, of their size. I had a girl in the left turning lane swerve over into my lane (left straight lane) with a car right next to me. Basically, I had to hug the center lines to pull out of that one. Split second thinking told me to do that, the guy that was next to me (not the stupid *****), pulled over with me as I had to let my heart drop back into my chest and told me "that was some fancy driving". I was still shaking and scared shitless from the almost wipe out. I ride big bikes on the road also, got a couple Ducatis and I can honestly say riding the YSR is more of a rush, nothing to do with speed but, more the "tiny" factor.
All that said though, it won't ever stop me. I don't trust every retard that happen to be given an Oklahoma Drivers License but, I trust my defensive driving, skill, and safety to keep me on the right path.
I'll never forget something my uncle once told me, "Any moron can ride out into the sunset but, only a true rider comes back in one piece........with no duct tape". haha. Unfortunately, he was forced to put his bike away as he was battling polycystic kidney disease and finally lost the battle this last weekend and passed away. I'll never forget that just because it's mixed with his goofy personality but, he was a hell of a guy and will be missed. I have so many great motorcycle memories with him and he owned the first YSR I ever rode. Wasn't for him I might never have threw my leg over one of these mini machines.
Well, on that note drive safe and have fun.
