imagine a 50cc race bike with 6 gears and 13+ hp (with the option for 70cc and 18+ hp), 12" tires, with adjustable suspension. would there be a market for it? and what would it cost?

I've got one... it is called a NSR50 with a big bore kit!
What other bike are you talking about?? I wouldn't pay more then $2500 for a mini race bike!

until now the bike i'm talking about is just an idea. i want one, and i'm trying to find out if others might want one, too. however, the bike would cost a lot more than $2500... (probably $4000-$4500).

Re: imagine...

+1 on the Metrakit bikes = custom built, race only 2-stokers.

Re: imagine...

rasputin, Are you planning on building one??? Why do you ask?? There are many mini roadrace bikes that are just like what you are talking about already for sale! You can pick up a NSR (brand new) for under $2k now if you really look hard, and if you wanted to go for a more GP style bike, you can pick up a used Metrakit from some kid that is moving onto 125's for around $3K??

I think new this year are the GRC R5 & R7 minigp racers... Fully adjustable suspension, 50cc or 70cc bike, ergos look to be a lot better then the Metrakit, more like a NSR.
I'd like to see what the price of one of these is going to cost..

Info for them is here... http://www.minigpx.com/news/article/?article=25073

You also have the new 2007 JAWA GP70's that are sweet as hell!

Cost is around $4900 US dollars brand new!!! Inverted front forks, GP style frame, fully adjustable suspension, ect..

Re: imagine...

There are tons of bikes that we don't see here.

Yamaha's Trz-50, Motohispania, Peugeot XR6, Rieju RS2 Matrix,
just a few that haven't been mentioned yet

yes, i am planning on buildíng one, for myself. for some reasons (mostly performance and personal reasons) i want this bike and nothing else. there would be a possibility to build more than one, that's why i asked whether people might be interested.
thank you for the information on the grc and the jawa bikes, i did not know about them yet. they look pretty nice. my bike's going to be a little different. it's going to be an "adults funbike" (for kart tracks), not a kids racebike.

Re: imagine...

I'll try. I think you're missing the point rasputin. Many of the bikes listed are EXACTLY what you've stated ! By all means, if you want to roll your own, go ahead, but the specs you seem to want are already on quite a few bikes, and they are NOT just for kids, especially with big bore kits. My NSR50R isn't a toy ; a kid would have to be pretty **** skilled and experienced to exploit its full potential.

i'm not missing a point, and i don't dislike the wonderful and readily available bikes out there.
i want to build myself a bike (because of personal enthusiasm), and it happens to have the same specs as the bikes listed.

do you have any more info? i just googled and found the mh80, and that's an older bike. i didn't know that there's so many 50 and 80 cc bikes out there. however, 80cc and 17" tires might be a future project, i'll stay with 50cc and 12" for now.

Re: imagine...

Yeah man good luck with building your own.. I'm all about building stuff (I built a Rockcrawler 4x4 a few years back) thought about bending some tubing and making a frame like a Duc and go from there... but with so many mini roadracing bikes out that are not too expensive, I'd rather stick with one that is already built. Plus if I were to build something it would be a RS125 frame bike with a CRF150R motor in it! One of the guys that I race with built one and it is NICE! A REAL GP bike!

looks nice, and i'm sure riding it is fun. but i don't think it's faster than an rs125. i'm biased against four-stroke engines... if i were to build a bike with 17" wheels and for large tracks, i'd build me a rs125 (or similar) chassis with a 500cc v2 two-stroke.
my bike is intended for small kart tracks and indoor tracks, where a supermoto or even a pitbike is faster than a (full-size) racebike.
