Check your local DMV. YES you do need a motorcycle license. These are not mopeds because you manually shift the gears. These are considered motorcycles. YOU will need insurance to ride them.

and..

you will need to be 16 years of age or older as well.

here in Florida, they consider this a "motorized scooter" since it is under the 50cc displacement.

Although, here in Florida, you don't need a motorcycle license to ride a bike like this.

these bikes are stuck in a legal DMV loophole. Check your local DMV. ask the local law enforcment division if anyone is familiar with this type of bike.

I hear that "plated" YSR's are even rarer than none-plated ones..........

start getting quotes now.

just be prepared to pay over $1000 per year if not more. start asking insurance companies to give you quotes.

tell them you just turned 16 and that you are a first time driver and need price quotes on insurances.............but when you ask them, be sitting down.

Unfortunately my friend, insurance for first time drivers is real, real high.

good luck.
