Now introducing, Yamaha YSP 72cc

My Yerbi....or rather, my "YSP" (YSR/Derbi "SP") is now a 72cc bike

I recently installed a Metrakit or MK, "SP" 72cc kit (cylinder/piston), and just recently broke in the motor. Here is footage I shot during my 5th heat cycle to share wit' y'all

w w w youtube.com/watch?v=nuw_pG_E7G0....... cut-n-paste and edit the w w w to allow the link to work properly

With the current gearing (13/41) I currently am using, the motor spins up to the rpm's a lot sooner, obviously I plan to install a 38 or 39 tooth rear sprocket, which will aid me getting more top-speed, but not to sacrifice too much bottom for climbing hills. I am hoping to reach between 75 & 80 mph.....not that I have too many places to reach such speeds (lol), but just as long as I can get to 60 or 70 really quick ......as I frequent expressways often. I am sure cagers will be quite impressed to see this lil' thing go

Re: Now introducing, Yamaha YSP 72cc

Had a couple rides so far with the new gearing (13/39). On an over-pass I frequent, the power is still readily available, just twist and go fast........errrrr Getting up to speed is real nice too!

Altho', at a posted speed; 25 is fine (2nd gear). But at 35 & 40mph, the motor rev's somewhat in the upper rpm range. Kinda higher than what I'd like. At 50 mph in 5th gear, somewhat in the lower rpm range. I tend to find that sweet spot (rpm wise)within gears around 5 mph (or slightly above) over the posted speed limit. I think I was closer within that sweet spot @ speed with the 41t. However, I would suffer some top-end speed.

On a funny note, I no longer really have to touch 6th gear, unless I plan to go any faster than 60mph Not good without attracting unwanted attention (lol), being that expressway posted speed is 45 mph. however, traffic cruises anywhere from 50 to 60 mph.

Now I need to figure out how bad my gas mileage will suffer (lol)

Re: Now introducing, Yamaha YSP 72cc

Update......

A couple Sunday's ago, Eddiemcrider & I got together for a ride through the East Bay hills and I finally got to test the top-speed since installing the Metrakit SP 72cc kit.

With a sprocket 13/39 combo, using Eddie's Garmen Satallite Speedo, the YSR hit 73 mph.

Altho', keep in mind, I don't have the YSR geared for max speed, being that I frequent twisties w/ lots of elevation changes
