True YSR value?

How much should a person sell the YSR50 for because I'm going to look at this guy's YSR on Saturday and he wants it for 1,000 USD and idk if it's over pricing it.

Re: True YSR value?

these things are tricky,

there are lots of things that affect the prices on these bad boys,

1. if it is currently street legal (if so 1k is a good price)
2. how original it is (from a collectors standpoint)
3. aftermarket upgrades (if its a race bike)
4. If its in good running order
5. what you intend to use the bike for. (if your gonna use it as a toy play on thing, then your not gonna wanna pay alot, but if you intend to restore/collect/race one of these, than it might not be a bad choice, but if money is avalible, a honda NSR is a better bike to go with if you plan to race)

I'm picking up a $600 one tomorrow, no title, but still has alot of original stuff (original paint too) I'm gonna make it a TMGP racer, that way i can have 2 race bikes, and always have someone to ride with. But its gonna cost me alot to get it there.

the one i'm looking at has the usual damage for a 20 year old bike, but is in decent condition for its price. The guy who i'm buying it for bought is as a mini-stunter, so i know its been used and abused, but Hopefully for me this will be a project that i can fix up and use for quite some time.

Re: True YSR value?

Well I plan on racing it and practicing how to use a clutch. But money isn't exactly available for an NSR. How much does a new NSR cost anyways? I've seen them for about 2500 used.

the lastest nsr was released only in 2004, had a retail of around $4k i think?
and yeah, most used NSR's will run between 2-3k.

I bet if you look around you can find a running YSR much less than 1000, i'm planning to race mine as well,

Some things you'll pretty much have to get (unless doing a stock class) is
Pipe, 2nd fork spring, rear shock if you can afford.

I expect my bike to cost around 1000-1500 in total when completed, I'm not going to go too overboard, All i'm wanting to get are tires, pipe, bodywork, and maybe a few other little add ons.
