YSR with a KLX 110 4 STROKE MOTOR ???

i bought a ysr not long ago and i saw a video on this website of a ksr 110 that was fixed up by TAKEGAWA, and it hauled balls.. So i got thinking of putting a klx 110 motor in my ysr frame, i know those 110 4 stroke motors can haul azz if u have enough money in the bank. Has anyone tried this, or seen it done before ????? Any info would help

Re: YSR with a KLX 110 4 STROKE MOTOR ???

I think someone has posted a similar inquiry involving a horizontal type motor and found that the head is very close to the front wheel. Also concluded that under front hard braking, there would be definate interferance.

In regards to a vertical type 4-stroke motor in a YSR chassis, has been done (XR100, Lifan 150cc & 200cc). Sadly, no one has mentioned any final comments of whether the conversions were at all to their expectations/satisfaction.

Tbh, I often ponder if any of these 4-strokers can handle rides that consisted of WOT for a period of time/long distance riding.

Any update of doing the conversion? I think it would be an awesome conversion.

Joe Lanza did a 110 "horizontal" type conversion. Unfortunately there is know write up about how good his bike performs and or competes.

If I ever do a 4-stroke conversion, I would prefer a motor that produces 16hp +, otherwise, to me, it's not worth the effort.

Re: YSR with a KLX 110 4 STROKE MOTOR ???

Hey Cali, I've got a complete YSR chasis awaiting completion, It's going to have TZM wheels, and suspension. I've also got two TZM motors, one is really oxidized pretty bad but has good compression, and the other one needs minor repairs, but i want to go the 4T route. Have you heard anything about the Lifan 150? I'm not to keen on the horizontal type motors because of my weight. I'm pretty sure the front tire will make contact with the motor under hard braking.

Re: YSR with a KLX 110 4 STROKE MOTOR ???

Lane,

I have pics of a guy who shoe horned a Lifan 200cc motor in a YSR, so I imagine a 150cc is very do-able. I'm curious to know what true hp's those motors put out. Any case, I say go for it!

If a Lifan 200cc fits, then there is no doubt a Honda 150r motor will fit. I believe they are equiv in head height.........which is what makes it a tight fit.

One other thing, I was told that the Lifan cases are a little wider. How much, don't know *shrugs*

In regards to the horizontal motor, the guy in LA (Joe Lanza) installed one of these motors. I was told by one of his fellow racers that the power is ok.......food for thought.

Unless of coarse someone actually installed a KLX 110 motor w/ all the Kitaco stuff to the equiv of the Japanese racers use, $$$$$$$.

Re: YSR with a KLX 110 4 STROKE MOTOR ???

Cali,

There's only a few klx motors being used. Most are Honda XR50-100or Ape 50-100, they have vertical fifties as well as the horizontal. I'll have to post some pics of the KSR in moto gp guise. It's pretty sick, you'd never know it was a KSR.

Oh yeah, i'd like to see the Lifan pics.

There is a guy on Supermotojunkie.com that has a NSF100 and tried to put in a 150R motor. Search under MINI PICS & VIDS for NSF100.
