I've run against the 4T NSR's from the company that made them (not Honda, Acuto). They're very competitive, their drive out of the corners is nuts. You really have to ride the #e!! out of a 2T to keep up. 50cc 2T against 50cc 4T, the 2T is faster, but once they start modding the 4T's it's a different story.
Upgrades are numerous, everything from dry clutches, big bore kits, titanium exhausts, you name it and they make it.
As far as the $5.5K, if you're handy with welding, fabricating, and have an NSR chasis you can have the same bike for approx $500 (cost of XR100 motor, that's whats powering the NSF100). If you're not handy with welding and fabricating various companies sell the engine mounting kit for approx $400.
I forgot there's several companies making aftermarket fairings for the NSR. One of my favorites (it's on the black NSR in my gallery) is the Miya kits. They crash extremely well and none of my team mates ever had problems with their kits.
Most companies have their own design, however many are replicating the look of the 211V.
".....50cc 2T against 50cc 4T, the 2T is faster, but once they start modding the 4T's it's a different story."
Exactly my point, "outta the box".
However, now you mention mods. I see the XR100 guys putting in a "120cc" kits, how would that compare to a "63cc" kit for the 2t? Would it still be a fair fight/battle?
Again, I think not. The biggest benefeit a 4stroke has is a track with very tight turns. That is where the bottom end torque plays a roll. However, tracks that are not so tight, I think the 2t would again, be a faster bike.

$$$$$$ for amatuer racing? why?????? to put all that money into a bike for what, bragging rights and a $5 trophy????? [crazy] (lol)

Where can I get one of these $500 XR100 motors????? [evil laugh] I have another YSR chassis I'd like to throw an XR100 motor into (LOL)
I've even pondered the thought of one of them Lifan 150cc motors too! But, I wonder about future maintanance. Will parts (rebuild kits and/or replacement parts) still be available for these knock-off motors? [cry]
Btw Clane, welcome back! You've been MIA for a while
I've been deployed again, such is life in the military.
I've found a few motors on EBay for around $300-500.
how would that compare to a "63cc" kit for the 2t? Would it still be a fair fight/battle? I'm not quite sure, all of the bikes I raced against were 128-148cc 4T's against my stock NSR80 and I had a hell of a way to go. (Remember these bikes are fully kitted, and most of the motors cost $2K when finished). I could battle with my CR80 powered bike, the stock 80 was no match.
$$$$$$ for amatuer racing? why?????? to put all that money into a bike for what, bragging rights and a $5 trophy????? [crazy] (lol) Racing in the states versus racing in Japan seems to be two different entities. In Japan every class is all out war and almost everyone that races owns a bike shop, hence the tricked out bikes. No one is willing to give an inch, and mini racing is taken very seriously.
I wanted to try a Lifan motor as well, but I was thinking about parts as well. I've got an extra chasis as well, i haven't been home long enough to get motivated to start and finish new projects. Lord knows I've got my fair share of projects, and I've just added another one a 2006 ZX-6R. I wanted a GSXR6 but Hawaii got them late.
Thanks for the welcome back Cali, not sure how long I'll be around this time.
GoShow: Kitaco is a major player in the 4T market, Yosh makes carbs and cams, N-Plan has a few items, Takegawa has a lot of parts, there's a fairly long list. If you have a specific part you're looking for, let me know and I'll see if there's a company willing to ship the part to you.
If you PM me I can send you a few websites to check out.
I just returned from the Philippines, then on to Japan. I'll be off to the desert again at the end of the year. It's crazy, I've got nearly 5yrs in desert time. I'm nearing 20 yrs so it's all going to come to an end unless I make rank again, then i have to stick around for another 3 yrs to get paid for that rank.

How are things going Shady?
****, military life sounds hectic... But me I'm good, I got back into the car stuff, so my extra money went into my car, lol... Summer time is almost here so I'll be getting back to the bike and maybe getting a 600 (if my fiancee doesn't kill me), I think I want to get all stock fairings for the TZR, but you never know with hobbies, you change your mind from day to day...
Anyway glad to hear you're well, stay safe!
Gotta keep the hobbies moving, I was thinking about working on my Titan but I'm going to leave it for now. Once i get the two classes done i'm back on a mission. Not sure where I'll start, but I'll get them all done soon enough. One good thing about getting deployed is the extra pay, as long as you don't spend it.
let me also say welcome back, clane. from time to time I see your name below viewing the threads but like me you rarely write anymore. it's understandable with your schedule... what rank do you currently hold Tsgt, master, senior? anyhow time flies so do your thing and come home safe.
Thanks! I'm a MSgt working hard on dotting my I's and crossing my T's so I can make Senior my first time around. If I don't make it on the first try then I have two more cracks at it until I can officially retire.
You're right time does fly and it's getting harder to finish projects.
Metrakit is a good bike after tuning, gathering the rite parts combination(dosn't run out of the box)and then the bike will realy fly, but as far as suspention's NSR is has dampening , rebound and spring ajust.
Are there any dealers of the MK in Socal? Looking to purchase one for my son soon, before next season. He's currently racing a Bravo X18, and doing well on it. He's just beginning, so he'll be running the X18 through this one. Next year though, he'll be ready for a much more powerfull bike not to mention one that handles much better.
You can contact me and i can give you all the information that you need to get a bike and get in with the MiniGP program for you kid. I am the midwest Metrakit Rep so I can help you out in getting a full set up bike.
