I only know of three people who owned GEM's here in Arizona in the last 3 years and they all sold them and bought other bikes.

franks new bike is sweet saw it about a month ago, duzs fastened body, all tabs on the frame to go from air to water cooled, nice body work, has a duct to pick up air under the nose for a cooler intake charge, he plans to have frame sliders (its full fairing) to protect the fairings, comes as a 6.2 a/c polini powered with kits available to convert to water and to go up in bhp, he didn't just start making some just ok bike, frank has put incredable thought and effort in to this bike, it's one of the bikes i'm looking into buying for next spring

who are you calling posers? *** what are you riding? or should i say repairing?
the bikes are still in production. i talked to frank tonite and mine will be here in two weeks. so hold on to your panties. you cant rush a good thing. as far as the euro GEMS, most of them are 50cc which cant be raced in most places yet.

Huh? Most of the GEMs I've seen sold over the past few years were production classers but I have yet to see a racing org. that doesn't allow 50cc pocketbikes. My husband had no problem entering his GEM 50cc all over the west coast.

The "new" bikes are exact copies of the "old" ones. They've always had tabs for upgrading because most of the ones sold in the US were water cooled. The only notable differences are the hydraulic brakes and the lower cost.

******** has only existed for this year, 2004. I'm sorry to hear that they've excluded 50cc pocketbikes. All previous racing organizations on the West Coast have allowed both 40cc and 50cc pocketbikes to be raced.

We don't have many open class bikes at all. We knew this going into the season and since I haven't seen too huge of a performance difference between the two, we simply have an open class up to but not exceeding 50cc.

After perusing the ******** site, it looks like they've got a 50cc class, just nobody to run in it!

SMRRC in Stockton CA doesn't have a 50cc class either!

I stand corrected. They used to, but in all fairness they had less than 10 racers at the end of last season.

the difference is the steering damper, Frame is Chrome molly,Forks are stainless steel 27mm seamless tubing center less ground for accuracy of dimensions and trueness, Fork triple trees feature extra heavy lowers and uppers made from billet aluminum,Wheels alum 1. piece billet, gold anodized. with removable center hubs( my euro has 2 piece),and Faring made from lycra based fiber glass for strength and durability with color mixed in(meaning if it scratches its still the same color not white.) The only thing made in china is the hydraulic brakes not the frame.

All the GEMs sold through TT's for the past year had solid billet rims and billet triple clamps.

mine must be older. check out the pics of the white one.the swing arm is different too. the upper support swing arm is higher and goes back further. so its most likely it wasnt sold in the last year.

******** says they have a 50cc class on the web but they dont.I would like to see one because i could use every bit.

Rex, the bikes we owned were like yours. A few guys that race with us bought the newer 2003-2004ish models (I think AZ has the highest concentration of GEMs in the nation!) but the performance turned out to be just about the same. In one case, one guy actually preferred his older model! It's the newer models that Frank is reproducing.

As for ********, I'm sure it's a case of ask and ye shall receive. If nothing else they'd probably throw you into the 40cc class anyway.

I don't think u can realy use a 50cc on the ******** track......AMAGO on the other hand would be a BLAST. The GEM that rex has is very nice, well built frame (my opinon) and very comfy for the bigger guys.

Erica, Did all the older GEMS have dual front brakes or was that an upgrade?

Of course you can. You just gear it up for low end and let 'er rip! 7/74 or 7/76 on an open 50 is FUN! The reality is that top speed on the 40's is very close to the 50's, the 50's just get there a little faster.

No, they were standard and they're a downgrade. They would get hung up on themselves due to their "floating" nature and they don't stop as well as the single sided 6" rotors.

The Giannini R1 is the bike in my avatar, talked with Frank last night. Barring any problems on their end it will be shipped the end of this month, mine is serial number 4. For full specs go to www.gianniniracing.com It is a VERY sweet bike.
