Which 2 bikes??????????

So my 3 yr old son is hitting me up about a cheapy electric motorcycle. So i start searching on the internet about electric bikes. I come across some youtube videos and more searching and find this site. All i can say is WOW and now i am looking to get something that i can ride along with him.

So my question is which bike for my 3yr old and can continue to modify for him as he grows.

And which bike so i can cruise with him? I am 5' 11" and 190lbs.

Thanks Jason

Re: Which 2 bikes??????????

If you're asking about him having his own bike, the pr200 is small enough for a 2 to 3 year old. Our youngest has been riding his since he was 2. That one is a "street bike" design. There's not many off-road type bikes that are small enough unfortunately. Maybe like an mx350.

The "grow with him" part is tough. Anything that fits a 3 year old probably will be awkward by the time the is 5. But as you know even adults can ride pocketbikes so maybe he will be a 5 year old that is ok with riding a tiny bike..

Re: Which 2 bikes??????????

Our 5 year old doesn't like the pr200 because he feels that it is too small.

If you are asking about a bike for two up riding with your kid, anything with a very long seat works well. Something like a motocross bike seat. This is a GREAT way to teach your kids throttle and brake control before they start riding alone.

What would the price range be for a used pr200? I am going to look at a used one for $100 that works fine and looks good.

Thanks Jason

p.s. I think i will just pic up a E300 scooter mod it a little and cruise around with him on the pr200.

Welcome to the site, JP.

(Look, another one of those "I'm buying it for the KIDS" kinda guys ... )

Might also want to look into the Razor electric that they sell at Toys R Us. Several people on here have had those ....

What about you? Going gas or electric for yourself?

Re: Which 2 bikes??????????

One of the good things about electrics.. used ones with dead batteries go for almost nothing. Don't buy new, even figuring in the cost of batteries you can come out pretty good if you wait for one of the cheap deals.

I sometimes see people selling package deals of 2 or 3 dead bikes for less than $100. If you're mechanically inclined get one of those deals then go buy a box of batteries online. You can come out with several ready to go pocketbikes for less than the cost of one new one. Thats what we did.

I aint bashing the electric bikes but dont ya jus love the smell of the fumes and the sound of the engine revving up on a gas bike? Those electric ones are real silent....

Re: Which 2 bikes??????????

For us, thats the whole point. We can pull them out and cruise around our house without ****ing off our neighbors. And I happen to like my neighbors. No, they don't like thefumes and revving. We don't have to load the truck and find an empty parking lot, we can just roll them out of the driveway. So everybody is happy.

I have plenty of gas bikes to play with also. Not a gas hater here, farthest thing from it. Anything with two wheels is cool and the gang.

I do concede for the time being gas is the bang for buck king, but its only a matter of time until that changes.. EV tech has come a long ways in the past few years. Just wait until the new 'cheaper/faster/better' batteries roll out over the coming years. You will see.

Re: Which 2 bikes??????????

Ok to answer your question.. Yes when I rev one of my cars or motorcycles I do love the sound. Yes when I fire up one of my 2strokers the smell brings me in to the mood to ride.

The sound of a 12,000 rpm electric motor with gear down transmission isn't so bad either though. Open your mind, its not an either or thing, you CAN love them both. I do.

YouTube - TT 2009 ELECTRIC BIKES!!!!!!!

BTW the blanked out word in my previous post was not the F word.. starts with P and ends with iss. I guess I need to say peeved for this forum. I didn't realize that was a bad word.
