which throttel do you have? Which controller did you upgrade to?
Red usually goes to red
BLack usually goes to Black
Blue usually goes to Blue or Green.
THe other two wires in the existing MX 36 Volt throttel
I dont think are used. I also dont know if the throttel
will still light up and show power status.
But the throttel (if wired properly) will make your motor spin.
Did you get the YK42-4 or the lb37 or something different.

Okay I'm brand new to this forum but excited to join. There is a lot of discussion about different mods which has been fun to read
Like most newbies, I ask what is the best mod to start with?

1) A simple 13 tooth motor sprocket change?
2) extra battery with 48V controller?
3) go for it all at once, battery, controller and larger motor?

I read about problems wiring up the new controller to the stock twist throttle, etc.

I want to have my 12 year old son do the work so he can learn. Any advice on the best place to start would be great.

Hi, to tell you the truth i dont remember most of this stuff because it was just a little play bike but now im getting really into motocross so i really dont remeber everything i did but here is it, 48 volts, new controller, bigger motor and i left the sprokets alone.

My son loves his bike with the same motor and 48 volt set up and stock gearing. he can take off very quickly, goes 25 on the straight, 20 up fairly steep hills, and tears it up in the dirt. What amazes me is he can also go way over 10 miles on a charge at full power. The motor doesn't even get warm with him riding it. I have had to hop up my ride a bit more so I can still hang with him!! I just put a 48V 12AH LiFePO4 battery in my ride. Man, those things pack a wallop for their size and weight. 25 pounds lighter than 4 12V 12AH Lead acid batteries.

**can I just install a motorcycle battery to it? is that what you did? :-/

Where can you buy sprockets for the stock motors/replacement motors from tnc scooters? I need some front sprockets that would be good for riding around in grass (i.e. smaller than stock).

What are the stock sizes of chain and sprockets?

Will there be a jump in performance if I switch from the stock 500w to the tnc 750w and that is all?

This is what I did:

Razor Minichopper, 250W motor, overvolted to 36V on the stock controller.

She had NO TORQUE ats all. Literally. I couldn't make it up my driveway going full speed (and then pretty much ramping up my driveway).

People burnt these motors out (from what I read on PBP), and many agree that those motors have awful power.

I switched to a 750W motor, and 48v controller + 8 batteries. Stock gearing (just like before), I could now ride on grass easily. However, speed was still so-so ish, torque was phenomeonal considering what I had lived with before (250W)...

And then I put 60V on it. Now I can ride through virtually anything! No matter how thick the grass, it doesn't stop pulling

Thanks for the reply but where do you get sprockets? And what sizes do they come in? I have heard of down to 8 teeth on the front but can't find anything that small at TNC. What is the stock size (front) on an mx500?

Also, is it a #25 chain, or the 8mm type?

Hi!
I bought the upgrade to take my Son's MX 500 to a MX 750. I don't understand how to connect the new controller... I think it's the throttle (deraileur) that has 3 wires on the new controller but 5 on the old one. I'm not sure what to do with that. Any ideas? I would REALLY appreciate help

wiring - the biggest problem is there was a 5 wire derailleur in the old controller - this one has a 3 wire one. I'm thinking I need to combine 2 of the other wires to it

old: yellow, red, black, black, green
new: red, blue, black

arggghh!

You dont need the yellow and one of the blacks. Attach red to red, black to black, and blue to green. If it doesnt work then switch the black wires and it will for sure.
