Re: MX650 mods?

Handa 80cc forks have been used befor, but the small 50cc pit bike forks are the best bust a bit pricy if you buy it for quality

48voltMx500, when I said rake it meens the angle of the front forks, yours now look almost like 5deg. if less and any thing less then 8deg . will not work properly and your head tube will surley wear out fast and crack if not befor the frame... I never ment this as a bash on your bikes, I just see a safety mistake you may have overlooked when you added 6" of lift in the rear with the 12" shock...go to an auto store and buy a small gas spring(the ones for hatch windows and stuff) and make sure it is rated for at least 200 pounds, that way you can lower your rear wheel a bit while keeping it higher then stock

Re: MX650 mods?

Hey RootBeer,

I see what your saying about the degree angle of the bike but I don't have to worry because the rear shock is fairly soft. When I sit on the bike, the suspension compresses down a few inches changing it back to a safer degree! I do appreciate that you took the time to give me a heads up on something that could have been a serious problem!!!

Re: MX650 mods?

Hi Everyone,

It's possible to make those hard MX 350, 500 and 650 seats more comfortable for CHEAP!!!

I took my seats completely off my bikes and used a flat tip screw driver to pull all the staples out of the seat carefully to take the covering off. I then pulled off the stock foam padding and added additional blue foam padding under the stock foam! Adding it under the stock foam is a must because it keeps the look and form of the seat without making look altered or bumpy! Then you need another person to help you compress the larger and softer seat down so you can staple it back down. Take your time so you don't rip your seat cover when you are stretching and compressing the cover!!!

You just need a decent size stapler that can use the staple size 1/4" by 6mm.

I am just starting to finish the second bike and have been taking photo's through the process for everyone. I hope to have the pics up for you guy's in a couple of days!

Re: MX650 mods?

Does anyone know why all my profile and Avatar pictures were deleted? I had them posted up forever and then they all got deleted and no one elses did! The pics were shrunk down to the right size and now it won't allow me to put them back up!

A lil' disappointed...

Re: MX650 mods?

I see Miker71's pictures are gone as well. I asked about that a couple weeks ago and no one replied, so I'm not sure what is going on.

Anyone?

Road racing MX650 mods

Hey,
I am trying to save the planet. I race mini motorcycles, ThumpStars in a Spec class at ********. One of my sons races a Blata 2.6 in the Blata Cup series there too.
I have the attention of the club with the possibility of an electric class, as fossil fuel is not only expensive but on a sunset phase.
But the stock MX650 is far too slow.
As we speak, I am having the front wheel re-laced to the rear 10" and am having a set of IRC tires mounted. This will quicken the geometry and allow for stickier rubber.
I am contacting you for a couple reasons. I now need some suggestions from you:
I was not able to open your pics on the forum. I have local welding shop that should be able to make it work.
Where do I get the engine?
We are road racing, not climbing hills. What gearing would you suggest to get max top end without giving up too much on the bottom?
Thanks SO much!
Ben

Re: MX650 mods?

PLEASE send me vids to, that would be sweet!!! blacko5143@gmail.com . Im geting a new mx500 and throwing in my 48v 100amp controller, 4 12v 18amp power sonic batteries and seeing what happens (going to rewind little 500w later).

Also does anyone know what the volt rating a standard 12v lead acid gel would be fully charged and fully discharged? I know its around 13.2volts and 11.5 but does someone know exactly? cause im going to rig up a multimeter to the batteries and attach it to the handle bars so I can read when the pack is charged and discharged ( powermeter), for when i go on long trips.

also, i just figuered out that my 48v 18ah has exactly double the watt hours of the stock 36v 12ah

432watt/hours vs 864watt/hours and when i had my old stock mx500, i did a range test and ran it until i felt a sag in power. It ran for 20mins at top speed (18mph) or 6miles (these were over a year old!!) so with my new setup, if i cruised at 18mph, I would go about 12miles, sweet.

Hey Mx650iscool and Electricbike,

I will e-mail you guys some videos and pics also!

I have been doing some more work on my 2 bikes so in another month I will have lots more crazy performance Videos for everyone! I used to race motocross and snowcross so I am not afraid to do something a little crazy on these electric bikes! I just need a lilttle more time to complete them and I will keep you posted.

Does anyone know if there are any electric bike racing circuits in Florida??
