With anything electric you're pretty much talking 10mph.... safe, but it will probably get real old, real fast.... and regardless of who makes it, toys break. Where do you plan to go to get it fixed? there are no dealers, only sellers, that means no place to get it fixed.

The gas-powered bikes are not toys, you can go fast enough to get hurt, but they're alot more fun.

Remember that in general the less you pay, the more problems you'll have and the less options for getting them fixed.

i tried convincing him but he's too scared to go fast he's even too scared to ride my goped (liquamatic converted to sport with .750BM. Meyers airfilter, sikk1 pipe
and a couple of appearence parts(ada friction billet deck etc.) but he's not scared to ride my brothers e200 (electric scooter,12mph) so he's only looking for electrics

That's what you think.. and how could anyone blame you? Looking around at what they have to offer in the big box stores, you will not find anything more that 350W motors in 24V PocketBikes. These are plenty quick for most small children, look at the huge smiles on their faces when they're riding one. This is the market that they were intended for. Of course they are "disapointing" to gr'ups like us that have been jaded by having ridden powerful, two-stroke Minimotos.

There are some electric Pocket and MidBikes available that will out-perform any stock gassser. I can't post any links that will conflict with the sponsors of these forums.. but here is a pic.

Bear in mind that these races are happening on a roadway, in the middle of a city.. right in front of a KFC! There is no noise or other pollution, and these kids are hitting 35-40 MPH speeds quickly!

I convert X-series SPBs. I am the only link to fast electrics here it seems. Hmm.. funny. I weigh 150#s too.

I'de retro-fit one for you, and it would beat ANY gasser.
More importantly, you can ride, practice or race just about anywhere with one of these things.

One like the black #58; 60+MPH with an Etek would cost $2995.- to duplicate.

A less powerful SPB; 35+ MPH (like in the pictures) with a 1000 Watt motor would be more like $1995.- less if a donor chassis was provided.. Here's what it looks like!

Hey! Jay and Robert! I think I just bacame an advertiser.
What do I owe you?!

Sure thing. I would just need to design it. It would definately need a dual-disc front-end too.. again, costy.

The X-series SPB is already worked-out.

Honestly, I don't know that I would even want to electrify a real pocketbike. The X6 strain should be a good platform for a race-winning/street-legal electric!

Those "kids" out front are running 72 Volts through motors rated for 600 watts. Do you really know what you are talking about?

35-40 MPH. I kid you not. -S

1. Not doubting you, but anytime you feel you have an electric that can "beat ANY gasser" please bring it to any of our races... we'd love to have you prove it, then it won't have to be an empty claim any more. There's one coming up in Florida December 11-12.

2. It's not the engine that gets bikes kicked out of practice and riding venues, it's the bikes themselves and the liability they represent... electric or gas makes no difference.

3. You may be able to create a "Super Electric" but that's not what's being sold in the stores right now. The comments in this thread are solely addressing what's in the stores for the average consumer.

I understand and can appreciate your passion, all the pocketbike racers out here have it.... but misinformation doesn't help your cause.

Good points RoboCop. I havn't actually gone up against a YSR 50 yet. I'm rolling out to the PB races in Vallejo again today.. maybe I'll get the chance to beat one.

Wow! this is getting a bit off-topic, eh? Sorry.

WEENEE, I wish I could point everyone to where they could go buy a competitive electric PB of their own, but they're just not out there, yet. I think this sport is ready for it.
All I can do is make them and race them myself.
