New controller Needed, Suggestions?

I bought the Minimoto Maxii for my son which is too young to ride by himself so My wife and I have a fun with it. Ive had it for about 3 months and the controller just fried. It has a coil relay on the outside of the controller that quit working, I opened it up and cleaned it and it worked for a couple more minutes and burnt the relay completely up, also the cutoff switch thats part of the brake lever doesnt work which is wired through the control module. Anyways Im pretty positive that the module is toast. The other thing is this is a 36 volt system and im getting 39.8 volts all the way through it. When I first got the bike it was pretty gutless at take off. now if i direct wire it, the bike pops a wheelie and shoot straight into the air. I would like a controller that can handle that power and that i could upgrade the motor later. But I dont have much money right now, so cheap is also a factor. Also the controller in the maxii has a coil relay that basically when you pull the throttle it closes the contact and gives full power. Are all controllers like this, or do some allow you to control the voltage so as to give more or less power. Reason I ask, is I stunt my F4 and I think it would be cool to stunt the maxii. I now gas burners can but the maxii full throttles so it would be hard to balance. Just a question. So basically i would like to know what type and where to get a good controller. Thanks.

remove the broken relay and take it to your local radio shack, they should be able to hook you up, and if it is a brake switch that is brolen I would jump it out first before calling it a smoked controler, the brake switch will shut the panel down so you can't put on the brake and apply throttle at the same time

I use the small SRE controllers is my smaller bikes and they work great. These will work good in your maxii as well. They do not have a by-pass mode that will give you full power, but that could be done with a 36V contactor from a golf cart supply a push button switch on the bars.

Check put the controller on ebay, item number: 7136747121

I have used these in several bikes and the chrome bike (Cag) I have
runs about 29-30MPH with it. (See my photo gallery for pics).

See ya,

it's a same you did't want til this summer cause mini moto is coming out with some new bike and a maxii but this one does 25mph. and a dirt bike that runs for 2 hours and yes in the dirt.i talk to the super at mini moto corp. and she give me the list of the new bike. anyway if you still have your warranty. then they will send you a new controllerfor free. just don't tell them you messed with it.i changer my gear on my maxii and now it does 26mph.it's slow off the line but it pickes up very quickly.my son just broke his record on his razor at 18.9 and but this summer i will boost his bike up to 26mph too.

Re: How'd you get that much power out of an electric bike?!?!?!

Does that Honda MAxii minimoto have the save control module as the Razor PR200?!??! I took my old useless Cag frame and used the front fork and tire and put that on my Razor, so now i have disks up front, but I have never heard of anything like this performance-related. What exactly did you have to do to get that kind of power and Amps to the module? Is it tough to do? I don't really care what it requires as long as it's not too complicated or complex, and if anything does happen i can still ride the bike.

Re: Rest of the Cag

Well, one of my buddies in my Razor pocketbike racing club apparently was fed up with his Cag because he had engine problems. He ripped the whole thing apart (talk about stupid ideas) and just had parts leftover. He said he planned on buying a Cateye instead, so I asked him if I could keep his chassis. He let me take it for free to. So, I figured why not increase the stopping power of my PR200 with some disks up front! The thing stops on a dime, so I ditched the big bulky rear drum out back because the drums were'nt catching the shoe.

for the maxii i just gave it a quick gear change for the razor i you have 2 options. you can boost up the voltage by 50% which will now give you around 3700 rpm which also means you need to change out the contoller for 36 volts, or do a gear change. you see my son is only 6 years old and weighs about 50 lbs. so he will go quick on his razor. on a short run he leaves me in the dust, on a long run i leave him in the dust. we mounted a cam on his bike and went racing in it he leave me in the dust but then you see me with my daughter fly by him doing about 23mph going to try to up load it then i'll put the link up

Yeah well pardon me but I'm not really up with pocketbike lingo. Gear change are you referring to a bigger sprocket with more teeth? or are you referring to the actual gearing and ratio in the engine? How can you really change this without screwing up the bike? And what do you refer to when you say you need to change out the controller? Do you mean that you have to do some re-wiring to the controller module? Please explain

The wiring is super simply. There are contacts on the controller for battery + and -, motor + and -, 3 wires for the throttle, and one wire for the key. There is a wiring diagram that comes with the controller.

Hope that helps.
