I been looking around for a motor and most i have seen is a 900 watt motor with 4100 rpm. Do they really make a 300 watt motor with 8000 rpm. Will a motor spinning that fast last long?

Most all of the 300 - 350W motors spin less than 3500RPM, most are typically 2800 RPM. I have not personally seen a 8000RPM 300W motor. If I had to guess I'd say the top speed is probably around 15 on this bike.

I have 800W motors that only spin in the 4K range. Unless you're getting the bike super cheap and plan to upgrade it - I'd keep looking.

no i definitly agree with u guys i was only joking when i said 8000rpm i agree that bike probably only does 15mph i dont know why they claim 30 mph i only like it for the looks i would definitly be upgrading it to atleast 800 watts but i would much rather have the etek in it

Question

I keep on hearing about the etek motors and the truth is I have always been into gas run things. Now how good are these motors and how much is the price compare to other motors.rad2go is another brand I heard of are these the two best companies when it comes to our hobby.

new bike etek motor

well im a little new to the electric scene ive always been a gas guy myself i biult 2 11second all motor mustang engines but this etek motor is very impressive from what ive read its like 8 inches wide and 8 inches round it looks like a big pancake as far as performance its anywhere from like 2 hp to 15 hp in voltage and wattage u feed it ive seen peak hp numbers in the 15 hp range to me thats awesome and there $385 on this one site i checked on a razor the motor is a little baby 240 watt thats 4 inches wide to the shaft and like 4 inches round i think it mounts in the back of the bike right in front of the back tire if u take it out and cut the motor mount bracket and maybe do some chain alignment stuff u put the etek motor right were the batteries go in between the fairings just like a gas then u need to do some battery mounting location stuff and mount the controller under were the gas tank would should be enough room there might be a little tight but a little baby bike like that with a etek would fly i weighed my kids razors there like 40lbs with no one on them with the added weight of etek and bigger batteries to power it they would probably weigh like 60 to 75 lbs

Here are the specs on the Etek:

20 HP Peak, 8 HP continuous
Voltage........................50 VDC
Max Nonload Current.....6 AMP
Max Nonload Speed........3600 RPM
MIN Nonload Speed.........3300 RPM
Min Speed at 160 Lbln.....3200 RPM
Max Current at 160 Lbln...150 AMPS
Shaft Size .......................7/8" Dia. 1 3/4" long
Voltage Constant: 72 RPM per volt
Torque Constant: 1.14 in lbs/Amp
Continuous Current: 300 A 30 Sec.
Weight: 20.8 lbs
Motor Diameter: 7.91"
Motor Length: 5.64"
Shaft Keyway: 3/16" and runs the full length of the shaft

The specs on the Rad2Go:

36 Volt DC 800 Watt,
3300 RPM Ventilated Permanent Magnet Motor
Dimensions: 5-1/2" long by 4-3/8" diameter
Weight: 10lbs

The Rad2Go 800W is the biggest motor available in scooter / electric pocket bike type bikes. The Etek can be retrofitted into a frame, but it will require alot of work.

Hope that helped.

Anything under 800 watts- definately. Try to keep an open mind. You wouldn't believe just how quick a REAL elektrik can be. I hope you get the opportunity to.

Your right... My Bad!
I haven't experienced an 800w, Only a 300W and I wasn't impressed. Something with a little more top end, and a lot more low end would be a good time!

But I'm addicted to the 2 stroke exhaust... I'd need a patch or a 12 step program if I switched...

Thumbs up

AtomicBiker,
No worries. "Electrics don't go very fast, and they don't go very far." is a common misconception. That's part of the reason why Team Voltage is going racing.
Try smearing a little castor oil inside your helmet to help with that two-stroke habit.. aromatherapy?

New electric bike

Yeah those bikes are pretty good quality of the razor. But if you really feel like dumping 300 for an electric bike, I'd say take a look at the $200-400 Cags instead. They provide a fun safe ride, and a higher top speed than the electric bikes. If youre just looking for a bike for crusing around on the streets, save your money and buy the Razors.
