X-18 Questions

Hey just got a few questions and youve prob seen these all over the forum. Just wanted a few suggestions on ugrading my x-18 for speed. I have no experience at all with motors or parts. ive already gotten a cdi, filter, exhaust simple things. but im looking towards sprockets now but im willing to upgrade any thing next except a new engine dont feel like paying that much for it. unlike everyone else here on the forum i got this thing to mess around with and never expected to upgrade it so this is all new to me.

Re: X-18 Questions

Wrong subforum.

What is it a two stroke or four? Stiffer clutch springs, smaller rear sprocket.. you want more mph at the top end right?

Re: X-18 Questions

You did some upgrades but did you rejet the carburetor after doing the mods....You also stated what you changed but you never say what items you replaced them with...Giving details of the upgrades youve done so far and would aid in getting faster help for your situation...The main thing is that you cannot mod the a/f,CDI and exhaust without rejetting the carb with a 75 mainjet min and 78-83 mainjet max depending on mods...If you want more bottom end take off and midrange punch doing the head breather mod will remove trapped heat from the upper head aswell as relieve pressure to allow the engine to spool up faster..
The basic mods youve should of done is 1/4" fuellines/fuelfilter,hp sparkwire,NGK sparkcap,NGK sparkplug C7HSA,float restrictor tab removal mod, head breather kit mod ,Kitaco supercoil along with what you have done already. The best CDI to use is the blue anodized race CDI from ebay and scooterparts4less.com;-that CDI advances the timing and has duplicator circuits to amplify the signal to the coil for max power and dead on operation without a misfire. After youve maxxed out all engine mods and have it tuned to the max with it running stout as hell then you can play around with gearing..A properly modded stock geared mid will top out at close to 60 and without suspension mods should be the fastest it goes due to the bikes etrocious handling after 50 mph.If you want to be able to handle the speeds youre gonna have to mod the front forks, both tires and rear shock.............Peace
