X6- Elektrified

So.. I took all that I learned from racing my elektrik X1 last year and distilled it into an X6 chassis. This bike was originally built around a heavier 50cc 4-stroke engine, so the suspension is stiffer than it is on the early X series 2-stroke models. The fact that these bikes have 10" wheels and juice brakes all adds up to exceptional handling under hard braking and/or in bumpy sections. This also works out really well when loading it up with the weight of 48 volts of batteries.

The prototype is going to roll out onto the track for the first time at the PBGP test and tune session in Vallejo, Ca on March 26.

I plan on campaigning this machine at Nor-Cal events, so don't be too surprised if something really quick and quiet sneaks up from behind and zips by.. you just got passed by an elektrik!

Thanks Ryan, nice kitty. The total cost was about $1800.- not including a one hour, 48 volt charger. It is a pretty bullet-proof package. Nothing really to mess with between races, except maybe for finding a three prong outlet.

Out of curiousity, why di you do away with the lower fairing?

Wow, that does look nice. I have to admit, I usually like full fairing, but this looks sweet even without it. Almost like a dirt bike or something.

Sevo,
there are 4 B&B 20 AH batts in there. The fairing was off because I was testing and tuning, that and experimenting with the streetfighter aesthetic.

Kidd,
I thought it looked pretty cool stripped down too. With all of the bodywork off except for the seat, it looks like the terminator after all of its skin is burnt off.. wicked.

I love it, everything is super clean. Do you have pics of the other side with the motor mount?

Which B&B's are you using, the EP, EPS, BP... we are currently using some of these and feedback from other folks would be great. Thanks.

I am using the high-cycle use EVP 20s in these bikes. These batts have really good power and life for the price, a fine standard.

The motor mounts in a novel way that most would not expect. I have spent more than a year of prototyping, R&D and race-testing to prove that this design is solid. You'll have to forgive me for not being too generous with the construction details.

The other detail that I have intentionally left out is that these X6s are my first high performance PRODUCTION elektrik racing MidBikes! They are bound for a Scandinavian indoor/outdoor elektrik karting track for testing and evaluation.

Given the costs involved with producing these machines, I don't imagine that there will be many individuals buying them. Those that can afford might be in for an unexpected surprise.. elektriks' rule!

Stevil,

I have couple of the EVP20's here at the shop. Testing them in a different application right now.

I remember reading one of the other posts about the Scan group and the electric PBs. I think thats awesome! How many e-X6's are you building?

Sevo,

I have built three. I am going to keep the original prototype as my primary race/R&D machine.
My expectation is that the kart track owners that see and ride these bikes are going to order several dozen to fill their grids. Getting a liscence to run petrol karts indoors is becoming very hard there. Elektriks don't have that barrier.
That is pretty awesome, huh?

Do your EVP 20s have the reccessed terminal threads?

I think its very awesome. We have been getting great feedback on the electric mini & pocket bikes we have as well. I've had some gasser's give me a hard time around the neighborhood when I first built the Chrome bike, but once they got beat, the tune changed....

The EVP20's we have use the flat tab style terminals. My SVR's use threaded terms. What range are you getting on the EVP20's? Street/Normal riding vs. Racing?

It IS really interesting how people percieve these little electrics. I think it is because the bikes are so silent that folks can not imagine that they will be that quick or fast. One of my favorite things to hear is, "Oh, it's only electric."
After they see it go it turns into, "Uh oh, it's THAT electric."

I had fit a cycle computer onto the X6 to gather some speed and range information, but I was getting bogus numbers. The gearing was mathed-out to give 45 MPH at the top, but the comp was spitting out low 60s. I think I will need to move the sensor and magnet out to the inside of the rim to get more reliable info. I do know that the battery pack is just beginning to get a little limp after 3-5 minutes on the track-at race speed. There should be 10-15 miles of range on the street. I'll know for sure pretty soon.
