4 stroke Engine Talk.. 110cc, 49cc, 70cc? what do I have?

Hey guys, recently we had a lot of talk in engines and their real size. There were some saying that even with 49cc stamp on the engine could be of a different size than what it really advertises. Along with other informations which are more than confusing!

I was hoping if we could sum this information or any engine information here in one spot.

TTMAN, I know you got burned but I was hoping if you got digital camera, if you could post us the pictures of your 49cc 4 stroke engine, so we know what it looks like and we can watch out for.

Hot_Rod, Siam, bartw, al300ex it seems you guys know this stuff really well, if yall could provide us with pictures along with some explanation what makes them 110 or 70 or 49cc, that will be great help for everyone who will be purchasing 4 strokes in the future.

I will be getting my RX12 110cc with 4 speed today or tomorrow. From what I have been reading I am kinda skeptical if I am going to see a real 49cc, but we will see for sure tomorrow. I will definitely follow up with high resolution pictures in this thread.

Thanks guys,

Michael K.

With the rx12 you should be alright. The cylinder will have a 107cm3 stamp on the left side. My bike didnt show up with any foot pegs, so while I was waiting a few weeks for some to show up I decided to take my motor apart to measure bore and stroke. It is indeed a 107 (110cc), just post a couple pics or measure the width of the cylinder and we will tell you for sure

Michael K, todays your lucky day. i just happen to have a x12 in the shop for some tuning and repairs. here are some photos of what to look for. on pic has the 107cm casting the other two are the valve covers the 110's and 70's are different dont have any 49's to compare tho. ill try to take the fairings of one of the x7's with the 70 to get some more photos of that motor.

Mine was sold as a X12 70cc.
I just checked and have:
1P39FMB serial
49cm casting
and according to Hot Rod's pic, a 70cc valve cover.
Does that all equal a true 70cc or just some mixed together version of it??

the 49cc & 70cc valve cover are IDENTICAL. u can't tell them apart externally. going by the serial #, u may have gotten a raw deal, like some of us. sorry.

it should take you no more than an hour if you are a novice to do, the 110cc has a different stroke than the 49 and 72cc. Just pull the cylinder head off and measure the bore, it is very easy to do on these engines.

By the way, where did you all buy the bikes?Did you buy them online, because I have the money to buy a 110cc rx12 and I dont wanna get burned with a 49cc deal.To me thats bull****, I would personally send them the bike back and demand my money.

You are absolutely right but these sellers are just so unresponsive and irresponsible that if you just simply do that, they will plain out ignore you after receiving the bike. What I would do is try to talk and see if he would make "it" right. If he does not cooperate, send him a certified mail with detailed message of what is happening that will be considered in the in a lawsuit against him or his company. If he does not get back to you, then you are going to have to start a lawsuit against him. It seems to me that is the only way to make it right.

If you paid by credit card, it is very simple to resolve this issue. You call them up and tell them what you ordered (show them the online receipt) and show them what you got and they will (if they are a good company) pull back payment for the item. Anyone with a VISA card is protected from fraud so it should be the same for the other carriers.

i looked on the black engine block and the only numbers i have is the 49ml casting. the head reads e22, and is the same picture as hotrod posted (far right). i'm looking for serial numbers but they seem not to exist.
