70cc 4stroke electric start, wont turnover

Hey, I just got a brand new 70cc 4stroke and it has an electric starter on it but when you turn the key and try to start it nothing happens....
Does it need a battery? I didnt see a place to put one but it seems pretty logical that ill need one since nothing is happening

Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks.

The whole bike is brand new, Im not sure what kind it is since its my first bike.
Ive done no modifications to it at all
Im assuming they put the right battery in when they made the bike

oh ok, its new
then you prolly just need to put the fuse in
look around for it

try pulling in the clutch handle or if it's auto pull in the brake handle when you hit the start button, they have a safety switch hooked to one of those handles so it can't be started by accidently hitting the start button....

If that doesnt work then try the fuse, look for loose connections

fuse is fine and its an auto

Im pretty sure the battery is just dead, I hooked it up to a charger and got nothing out of it and it wouldnt charge, ill just pick up a new battery and see if that works.
I think it's been sitting for awhile so im hoping this is the only problem

hold on, are you holding downa brake or something when you try to start it

On my x1 and many others you must hold down a brake befor hitting the electric starter button.
