Question for x6 4 stroke owners

having a problem with my x6...My bike kicks but wont start..when you try to start it with or without the choke the motor just kicks and kicks but wont start..Im wondering what could be the problem...to me it sounds like the ignition is too advanced...but my ignition is in the stock position on this bike...any advise would be greatly appreciated

can be caused by various things. Is it at start-up or after riding for a period?

Why did you retard the timing? Set it back to stock this may or may not help but it's worth a try. You may also want to try a fresh plug and change out the old fuel if it has been sitting in the tank for a while.

with it at stock it didnt seem like it wanted to start...now the thing is i dont know how high the compression is on this motor but i was told it runs on pump gas...this motor ran fine in my x7...but wont even start in my x6 and the 110cc stock motor that came out of my x6 ran fine in it (until i blew it up that is)

Well I think when it was stock the carb may have needed to be adjusted possibly the idle screw and not the air/fuel. Yes they run off pump gas but it's best to use high octane at least 90/91. So sorry to ask but did you place the 70cc back into it after you blew the 110cc and now it's not starting back up? Make sure your wiring is correct if you spliced them together.

I run off of 93 octane all the time...all the motors were 110cc just this one is a high compression motor...but it has started and ran without a problem before and now it doesnt want too...i didnt splice anything..I swapped the whole harness

Well then it's either fuel delivery or ignition (spark). Check to see if the coil is giving off the correct spark to the plug.

well thats the funny thing...Im definitely getting fuel and im getting spark because i see it and smoke is coming out of the exhuaust when you try to start it...but the spark seems kinda weak...but i change the coil for one i know is good and it did the same thing

I would set the timing back to stock then if that does not work then maybe if you have a partner with a 110 that will let you swap the CDI to see if it helps or it can be running way to rich flooding itself out. Again it's hard to tell what it can be.

it can also be flooding itself out but again hard to say.

yeah i know and the problem is all of my motors have different things done to them so its hard to tell what its malfunction is...It can be something as small as the porting causing the problem..but this motor has never hard started before

I was talking to MIDMADNESS and he said to make sure your carb is mounted correctly on the manifold also. He said he ran into this with his bike when the carb was loose or not seated correctly on the manifold. It's worth a look.
