X15 Won't Start - Not even connected to charger

I've been messing with this used pocketbike, and I've never seen it actually run. I've plugged a 12 volt 6 amp charger into the starter and it hums, then slowly rolls over once or twice, but that's the only way to get any noise out of the motor at all. With the battery charger connected to the battery cables, I get power to the speedometer, lights, and horn, but nothing happens when I hit the starter switch. I don't even get a click from the relay.

I've tested the continuity on the starter switch, and it is opening and closing correctly when you push the button, so I've ruled it out as a problem. The only things I can see that are out of place are:

1 - The negative lead off the right side of the motor goes nowhere, like someone just cut it with wire cutters.

2 - There's a 2-pronged plug on the throttle handle that I can't find a matching connector for. But I've been told it may be a plug for brake lights which my bike doesn't have.

Any ideas?

Didn't even occur to me, since it's missing a kickstart lever. What good is the starter motor if you have to kickstart it?

One thing you can do to start it is push start it. when my x18's kick start had problems i pushed started it with no problem. What you do is got to the top of a hill, put the bike in 1st gear, run as fast as you can while holding the clutch in, when you cant go any faster pop the clutch, get ready to use the break and give it some gas. This will more than likely take a few attempts because the engine is not warm.

your battery is dead
maybe you can take it out and charge it like a real battery
usually tho they are dead for good
you can try to match it up at the auto parts store
your motor hasnt started in awhile so its gonna be hard
real men kick it

Re: X15 Won't Start - Not even connected to charger

i usually like to jump start my bikes in second gear. as for the battery i would just buy a new one. batteries are only about $10-$12 at battey patrol or any store that specializes in batteries. and that 2 pronged plug is for brake lights. if it was my bike i would just buy a kickstart lever and call it done. but if u want to use the electric starter u might want to check the brushes in the starter motor. if the relay is working but it barely turns over it is probably the battery , but it could be worn out brushes in the starter, because if the starter motor is running to long while trying to start the bike the brushes can stick in the brush hoods because of the heat build up in the starter motor. especially if it is a used bike and may have been done repeated times to start the bike. take the starter motor off the bike and take it apart and check the motor brushes and springs for wear. maybe try stiffer springs behind the brushes to make sure that they get a good contact with the commutator. that is what i did the first time my starter went bad on my old engine and it worked great for about another 9 months. the main problem is the brush hoods are made of a material that seems to melt when it gets to hot and that causes the brushes to stick in the hoods and not make contact with the com. hope this helps.

Take your old battery And throw it IN THE TRASH!
Then, buy a new 12v battery but with more amps
