There is a good reason why they make different size screwdriver bits, using the wrong one is why screws get stripped out.
We should have warned you that the screws are loctited in there and that you need to use an impact driver with the correct bit but I just didn't want to insult your mechanical skills as I do not know what experience you have working on motors.
Anyway, you will want to buy new screws as you should not try reusing the stripped ones.
When you do get them out look at your clutch basket, another reason why clutches don't release is binding in the basket. There may be some grooves in the basket that would be a tell tale sign. Look at the plates and see if they got hot (the metals, not the fibers). Move the plates around, the first one closest to the motor gets the most abuse. Of course report with pictures and we will try to help you get to the bottom of this problem.
BTW, just buy an impact driver, they are $10 at Harbor Freight (not an impact wrench, an impact driver with screwdriver bits, the kind you hit with a hammer and it is spring loaded)
