Take off the kickstarter and remove the whole right side casecover and inspect for the damage

Re: x18 clutch completely gave out

ya and try not to break the gasket on the cover as you pull it off, you can reuse it if you dont
if the bike is off and you put it in first, is it hard to push?

Re: x18 clutch completely gave out

yea if its in gear why wouldnt it be hard to push lol. i took off the casing and didint notice any pad fibers in the oil... and now i dont know how to take off the clutch because it moves when i try to unscrew the 4 phillips heads. do i have to jam a screwdriver in the flywheel to make the clutch not move?

Re: x18 clutch completely gave out

Remove the sparkplug and take some soft clothesline rope and put it into the cylinder then rotate the clutch until the rope acts as a piston stop tool ;-remove the bolts and youll be good................

Re: x18 clutch completely gave out

Yes it does....Youre not suposed to run full synthetic oil in the engines...youre supposed to use a synthetic blend.....I use Amsoil 5w20 and Castrol 10w40 mixed 60/40............Peace

Re: x18 clutch completely gave out

You can use full synthetic, Amsoil is a good one. Some oils are not formulated for wet clutches, they have friction modifiers that will cause a wet clutch to slip.

well you said the clutch wouldnt engage so i wanted to rule out the cable/perch adjustments
but since it is hard to roll while in gear then the clutch is in fact engaging

Re: x18 clutch completely gave out

no dude it would move if the clutch was engaged. when i put it in gear and roll it, it doesnt roll because its in gear. if the clutch actually worked it would allow me to roll it in gear.. lol

Re: x18 clutch completely gave out

maybe you dont know when the clutched is engaged
its hard to roll in gear because the clutch works
if it was easy to push in gear it would mean its slipping or something

Re: x18 clutch completely gave out

okay well maybe i got it backwards. so when u pull the lever, that disengages the clutch? and when the lever isnt pulled that means the clutch is engaging? in that case the my clutch refuses to disengage

Re: x18 clutch completely gave out

you are correct, so verify that the chrome lever on the side of the motor is actuating up and down as you pull the lever, at its highest point the clutch should be disengaged
adjust the cable till the lever comes up real far, then check

you have it backwards, if the plates were wore out the clutch would not engage, your clutch is not disengaging. There is something wrong with the mechanism there.

Re: x18 clutch completely gave out

i put it in 1st and pushed this thing in (which should disengage the clutch) and the bike still wouldn't roll. something in there is messed up, not the mechanism behind the chrome cover.

Re: x18 clutch completely gave out

unscrew those 4 screws and see whats back there be careful it might be spring loaded and if that bearing is messed up take to a hardware store and replace it
