X18 Clutch problems

Hey guys Just got an X18 and I am having clutch issues, Clutch is not fully disengaging, I have tried to adjust the cable out at the lever and it doesn't get any better. Any ideas? I do have an adjustment in the middle of the cable and it is adjusted all the way in. Plus the clutch arm on the transmission doesn't have anymore throw in it. Sorry for the long post. Any ideas on what to do? with the clutch pulled in the bike takes off when put into gear. Oh also my brake lights are wired to the clutch any way to fix this?

You mean you can see the arm on the side cover move all the way and the clutch still does not disengage?
If that is the case you will need to pull the cover off, maybe something was not installed properly in there. Another possibility is that the clutch plates are stuck together, you may have to take them out and scuff them a bit with a brillo pad and then let them soak in oil and reinstall.

Yes the arm on the side cover, when the clutch lever is pulled I can push on the arm on the side cover and there is no more throw in the arm, like with my motorcycle, when my clutch needed to be adjusted there was still trow in the arm but this one with the clutch pulled all the way I can not move the arm anymore. Do you know how to fix the brake light, it is wired to the clutch lever and needs to be on the brake lever.

Re: X18 Clutch problems

You are going to have to pull that cover off and see what is going on in there.

As for your brake light problem just switch the wires from the plug on the clutch to the side with the brake on it.

Ok I pulled the cover off and all I see is a half cylinder that pushes a "T" shaped piece in that is on a spring. I have never seen a clutch like that before and don't know how to adjust it or fix the problem, but the minute you put the bike in gear with the clutch pulled in it lunges forward and stalls. As for the wires, they don't just pull off do they?

Is there an oil passage tube (looks like just a cylindrical shaped small spacer) over the spring? On the side with the cover, is there a piece that looks like a top-hat with a little tab? While you have the cover off when you pull on the clutch arm does the top-hat looking piece push out? Does the clutch itself feel like it is solidly mounted, can you move it at all?

Re: X18 Clutch problems

As far as this clutch goes, there is a cylinder that runs behind the cover, when I pull the clutch it rotates but I can see that it is only a half cylinder meaning cut long ways down the middle, behind that is a metal piece that looks like an upside down T and when the clutch is pulled it pushes the T in towards the motor compressing the spring, just not all the way and it is loose, I can grap the T pice and move it up and down left to right. I even started the bike with the cover off and Pushed the spring in all the way and then put it in gear and it still did the same thing, lunged forward and stalled

The plates could be stuck or you are missing a piece there. I cannot tell from just your description, you will need to have someone who knows what they are looking at just look at it and tell you what is out of whack. If you were local to me I would tell you to just bring it up and I am sure we could figure it out in 5 minutes or less but without actually physically touching the clutch and seeing what you have I will not be able to tell you what is wrong.

Re: X18 Clutch problems

hey.. does the rear brake turn on the brake light? and does the clutch and front brake have wires going into the levers? just switch em and be good? If the front brake has wires, whats the point?
