Question x18 transmission help

i bought a used x18 and all the sudden yesterday it would not let me shift into 3rd or 4th gear. It just revs when i attempt to shift up then it says im in neutral, i think the gears might not be meshing properly however 3rd and 4th gear work occaisionly

Help Needed

Re: x18 transmission help

i have the same problem i think its a bent fork in the gear box and try keep ur foot pushing up all the way on the shifter and just let the clutch off slow thats what works for me, as for evidence of this look on the engine for any scrapes, dents, or scratches where the engine could of taken on a curb

Re: x18 transmission help

Sounds like you ate up one of your shift forks in the inside of the engine. That happens from improper oiling and neglecting oil change service intervals plus powershifting ..........Changing a shift fork isnt an easy task so if you dont have proper mechanics tools, mechanical knowhow the job isnt for you to try...One good tool to understanding the job and the tools needed buy a Clymer repair manual for a 2005 CRF 50/70cc...That bike has the closest engine/trans and the procedures are really close to dead on on alot of procedures for disassembly/tools and reassembly..............Good Luck.......Peace

Re: x18 transmission help

Its easy to check the shift star to make sure that is not the problem. To get at the shift star but to get to the shift fork you have to take the whole engine apart and split the cases.
