x19 starting problems

So I recently bought an x19 off of this guy. It has less than 2 miles on it. The night that I bought it the electric start was working fine every time it would crank seamlessly. The next morning I try to use it and the electric start isnt even working like it cranks a bit but stops all the way after. The kickstart works fine though. Although after it starts it quickly dies sometimes it's hard to get a solid idle. For the electric start I know it isn't the battery because the guy had installed a new one already recently and the lights work perfect. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: x19 starting problems

Just because the guy put a new battery doesnt mean he charged it correctly...If he used anything higher than 2 amps to charge it up then he cooked the battery...take it out and bring it to walmart autocenter and have it tested to be 100% sure....Overcranking the starter will cook the battery too .the starter isnt supposed to be cranked for longer than 5-8 seconds continuously and no more than 5-8 consecutive tries before having to wait 10-15 minutes for the starter to cool down....The cheesy batteries in these bikes are made for alarm syatem and emergency lighting back-up power supplys;-not to crank starter motors like the chinese try to use them for...the proper replacement for an electric start engine would be a wet acid filled maintainance free powersports battery from PepBoys..

Theres things you can do to your bike to make it run and startup fast,,theres a restrictor tab casted into the bottom of the floatbowl that needs to be grinded down to give the float its true range of motion its supposed to have..that tab is the chineses answer to getting an EPA certification on these bikes..Remove the carb,-totally disassemble it;-thouroughly clean it out;-check float height setting and perform the float restrictor tab removal mod,set the air/fuel screw to 2 turns out and change the oil with Castrol 10w/40 motorcycle engine oil;-not car oil and replace the sparkplug with an NGK C7HSA sparkplug and your bike should run pretty good after that if you do everything accurately, correctly and with an attention to detail...

Re: x19 starting problems

I Have An X18 And I Followed The Procedure On Cleaning The Carb. When I Disassembled It, The Float Bowl And Everything Else Was Light Green So I Guess It Was Gummed Up. I Used A Thin Safety Pin To Clear Out The Main Jet Passages, But Here Is My Question, For The Pilot Jet, If I Try Clearing Out The Passage Way Is The Safety Pin Suppose To Go Allthe Way Through Like I Did On The Main Jet, Because I Wasn't Able To Do It On The Pilot Jet? Oh, And Wat Is The Function Of The Pilot Jet?

I Put It Back Together On The Bike And Now The Bike Idles But Only When The Choke Is Up (closed) And The Idle Speed Screw Almost All The Way In. Once I Put The Choke Down (open) The Bike Simply Wont Idle And Just Dies Immediately.

Re: x19 starting problems

only the pick up jet is supposed to go all the way through, not the main jet, or its the other way around, im not too sure, but either way, only one of the jets are supposed to have a passage all the way through the middle all the way up.

Re: x19 starting problems

yea i was able to remove some green crude from the main jet with a thin pin that went straight through, but for the pilot jet it only went so far and not all the way like the main jet. is that normal?

Both jets have a hole all the way through, the pilot one is exceptionally tiny.
