X9 50cc tear down pictures and upgrades

Hey fellas. i stripped a 50cc 4 stroke lifan down the other day so i took a few pics for future reference if anyones curious.

main question i have though is what upgrade options are there? not interested in small mods - the thing is so slow with the 50cc - was more thinking along the lines of a much bigger barrel.

is it possible to just slap on a 140cc + barrel onto the cases with a new piston? can i reuse the old head and cam? (dont think i can but might as well ask)

unfortunately i cant upgrade the entire motor in this because it has an extended output shaft so standard motors wont line up by a long way. so i have to deal with the crappy automatic transmission.

still studying the crankcases on the lifan exploded diagrams and to me it looks like the cases are pretty well universal across all motors. so im thinking i could possibly put the manual internals in there with the existing extended final drive shaft and make it work... what do you think? tried before?

but anyway heres a few pics.

cam and rockers

top of the valves, where you do the adjusting

equally tiny valves.

tiny little piston

overhanging gasket fail lol

barrel without the head.

stator side of the crankcase without starter motor. you can see how long the drive shaft is on this thing

stator - you can see the low side is covered in black string, i thought it was burnt out at first!

clutch and first half of the CVT

havent split the cases but i doubt ill do that. still curious as to how the CVT works because i can see two long splined shafts inside but theres no belt drive within. only a gear down drive. so maybe it doesnt have a cvt after all and just straight gears down??

Could you measure the diameter of the piston, the head looks a bit like you have a 72cc but it is hard to tell with nothing around it to reference.

hey dude,

its a 40mm diameter piston and the barrel length is approximately 63mm (the short type i believe).

also if i retain the stock barrel and head what are the best per $$ upgrades. looking at a cam and valve springs on DRATV.

cheers

Punch it to an 88cc and it will run as fast if not faster than a stock 110cc mid.........Peace

Get a 88cc kit with a head and carb and you will be pushing 7-8hp so like a well tuned 110cc.

Re: X9 50cc tear down pictures and upgrades

alright thanks, so it looks like this is the kit to go for. those 95cc ones look good too but it looks like they have to run without the cylinder skirt at the bottom to make them fit??

HYPER_88_KIT ALL_ATC70'S ALL_TRX70'S PRE82_CT70 ALL_XL_SL70'S

also with the conversion to manual - is it possible on the auto gearboxes? i can see all the holes and bearing pockets are machined and ready + it looks like both the splined gearbox shafts are in there but its only running one set of gears locked together permanently.

if i get the gearbox internals as well i reckon it would work... couldnt find any threads here on the subject anyway (the search feature here is horrid lmao).

thanks guys!

Re: X9 50cc tear down pictures and upgrades

just an edit to that i found a post on it -

x9 ? f18 ? motor swap

looks like you can swap the final shaft into a standard manual motor with some easy machining. so ill grab a 110cc manual out of an R1 and convert it over

thanks again!

Some of the Chinese cases were already large enough to run the 95cc without any interference or case boring. Measure where your cylinder goes into the case, the bore size on the 95cc is 54mm plus about 2mm for the skirt so if you have around 56mm the skirt should slide inside the case.
