200cc 6.5hp catseye engine swap problems

I have purchased a unfinished project which is a 200cc 6.5hp loncin engine swap for a catseye and need some help to complete it.
it came with this lot done;

1. modified the frame,

2. engine mounted with in frame,

3. exhaust has been fitted but could do with slightly better set up,

4. set the carb up to work on the twist grip and tuned to produce more movement on the butterfly,

5. clutch system has been custom built to fit the engine including full adjustment,

6. sprockets have been lined up for twin chain system to work,

work to be done;

1.change the direction of the sprocket from the clutch to the secondary sprocket,

2.fit and modify the fairings

but to change the direction of the sprocket from the clutch to the secondary sprocket whould have been near impossible so i decided to turn the engine round the other way so that the clutch is on the left and the pull start is on the right but to fit it in had to remove the rear suspension (will have to reposition) and turn the wheel around but it was free wheeling the wrong way so i undid the sprocket and made it not free wheel but then when it would be trying to drive the bike it would be trying to undo the sprocket and wheel hub and also the chain is to short

so my problems are;

1. need a longer suspension but dont know where to get one from

2. when the bike would be trying to drive the wheel it would be undoing the sprocket

3. the chain is too short and dont know where to get a longer one from,

any help would be greatly appreciated,

Look into obtaining the rear wheel and swingarm from an X7. The sprocket is bolted to the left side of the rear wheel instead of threaded, and the swingarm I believe is longer. I'll verify this when I pick my cateyes up from the machine shop.

I too have had trouble locating this chain. Especially the master links. I think it's an 8mm or something but it's absolutely not a #35.

I think it may be. A friend of mine stumbled on to some master links, but we've yet to find the right chain locally. If you order one make sure to get the long (single chain model) one.

I'll know for sure when I pick up the bikes, but I believe it is. I know the X7 wheels are a larger diameter than the cateye, so if that's any indication...

I need to clean out the side area and build a bike shed. Right now our less-used bikes are being stored at my friends machine shop for lack of space here.

provided you have enough clearance it might just be a matter of drilling and spacers. I've thought of that too, legal wheels on a cat bike hmmmm..

well its a start. I think you might want to throw in a cvt too.

Legal?

If you're referring to the X2 CVT I wouldn't. Those things have a hard enough time not burning up on a 49cc engine. If you're talking a gearbox, then yes, that's a given. And if multiple gears is a possibility, so much the better.

Wouldn't it be easier to just make or buy a locking hub and flip the wheel backwards?
