Help!!!

ok, so i got my pocket bike about 3 days ago now, and have loaded it up with gas and rode it around the block. BUT... it ran fine then, but when i took it up to my hs parking lot it started up, and than all the sudden after 20 seconds or so the back wheel would spin at full rpm without me even touching the throttle. And then once i thought i had it fixed it would run for about 100 yards than once i realesed the throttle it kept going, and when i tried to give it throttle again the engine would die every single time. Please Help!! also the bike is a gp mx3, THANKS!!!!!! P.S. Could this have to do with the gas to ratio mix?

Re: Help!!!

Well first of all, you are without a doubt going to receive mini lectures about discussing street riding, so be prepared. Secondly it sounds maybe your throttle is sticking .

Re: Help!!!

before i give my solutions remeber this rule, NO street riding talk, it is not only against our rules but ILLEGAL! keep it to vacant parking lots and such
well, with that out of the day i must say welcome 2wheel to our community!
the gas / oil ratio is most likely NOT the problem. my first suggestion would be to remove the throttle cable from the carb and put it back on. if this doesnt work then you should adjust your throttle needle c-clip position, here is a guide How to: Adjust needle clip *pics* so try that, since your bike is new i would clean the carb and if these dont work i'd just return your bike as it is still under warranty for a brand new one. hope you fix'er up man

Re: Help!!!

I'll pretend I didn't see the part about illegal street riding ....

Welcome to the forums. As these guys said, sounds like the throttle is sticking, or someone assembled the carburetor wrong. Have you cleaned the carburetor? If so, the throttle slide (the black cylinder) may be in 180* from where it should be. What all have you done to the bike besides put gas in it?

. o O (GP MX3, nice ride ....)

Re: Help!!!

hey guys sorry about the part i said about riding around the block i was only testing it out before taking it up to the parking lot . And Spyguy, i havent touched anything else on the bike except to put in gas, and my fuel line was a bit krimped so i fixed that, but no i havent touched anything else. Also would the carb idle screw possibly have come loose this quick within two days of riding? and also i thought about that their was kinda of some debree coming out of the carb which is normal, but how much is normal? Thanks Alot Guys!!!!

Re: Help!!!

Its vey likely the carb could of come loose....Your method of break-in may of contributed to it also....The bike shouldnt even see past half throttle for two full burnt tankfuls of fuel.Mix should be at 25:1 or 28:1 for whole 4 tank break-in.It shouldnt see full throttle until after 4 burnt tankfuls...If you ripped on it from the start chances are youre gonna have warped reed petals, scorched rings aswell a loose hardware....within every nhour of riding your supposed to go over the wheel nuts, engine mounts and chain tension...These small machines vibrate badly and that vibration hammers the chinese potmetal screws out..You need to get a good grade 8 hardware kit and loctite and replace the cheesy chinese potmetal hardware holding the engine on...Spyguy also has a handy mod you can do to isolate some of those harmful vibes..............Peace

Air Filter, screws on carb, and ignition wires

Sorry for all the new threads guys, but i am having alot of problems with my bike. Ok 1st off i think my bike came without an air filter on it as i just found out. 2nd my mixture fuel screw is wayyyy to rich the spark plug is black and some gas leaks out of the exaust and i cant find the screw to adjust this. 3rd i reasembled my starter and i put the green wire on the flywheel properly i think, but theres a black wire running from the keyhole that i have no clue where it goes into? Thanks Soooo Much for all the help guys!!!!

Re: Air Filter, screws on carb, and ignition wires

If you can see the rear of the carb and not a square black box attached to the end of the carb then the airfilter is missing.Riding without an airfilter will eject alot or pebbles and rocks into the open gullet ....Why is the keyswitch missing? If it came like that they are only used for a killswitch and unauthorized useage...You have a killswitch on the handlebar so tape up the wire end, plug the hole with a rubber plug and forget about it.The over rich sparkplug could be from an improperly set float and these cag carbs dont have air mixture screws.the a/f mix is controlled through the mainjet needle in the barrelslider....Raising the clip on the needle leans the fuel to air mix and dropping the clip richens the fuel to air mix.... Im thinking reed petal damage to be your problem so remove the carb and reed cage to inspect them............

There is a 4 tankful burnt minimum of easy riding with no full throttle involved to break in a brand new bike correctly which takes anywhere from a couple days to a week to complete correctly depending on how dedicated you are to doing it..there is also in-between maintainance involved like checking tire air pressure, chain slack and engine mount hardware aswell as the rest of what holds it together.....If you wailed on it from the getgo then chances are you have fractured or warped reed petals already, scorched rings possibly and alot of undue stress on the wristpin and needle bearings definately.Good Luck.................Peace

Re: Air Filter, screws on carb, and ignition wires

First off, This is a cag 49cc engine setup, it sounds like you might have a cateye or something similar. If your engine looks like this you have a cag setup.
http://img97.imageshack.us/img97/5783/dscn1025i.jpg
http://img691.imageshack.us/img691/7519/dscn1026.jpg
http://img691.imageshack.us/img691/6093/dscn1027.jpg
If you have a cag setup then the way I have the parts layed out is the way it goes back together. If you dont have a lil black box that looks like this, http://img40.imageshack.us/img40/1931/dscn1028c.jpg , then yes you are missing your air filter, and you need to get one, either aftermarket or stock, ASAP. Don't ride without a air filter I blew a engine doing this, sucked up some junk and killed the engine.

If you want better answers to your questions post pictures of your problems and it will be allot easyer for us to help you

keyhole Black Wire

hello all, ok got my bike running very nice thanks to you guys but im still having trouble with a black wire leading from the keyhole. Its the wire that makes the engine stop i know but when the engines on and i try to turn it off via the key it wont turn off due to that wire not going into anywhere. So now i have to turn the engine off by the killswitch everytime. I dont mind but will it hurt the engine by shutting it off every time by the killswitch? And where does the black wire go into? Thanks!!!

ground wire

do i need the ground wire or can i just tape it up to the side? I really would like to tape it to the side if it wont affect the engine or anything. And if i always stop the bike using the killswitch will it hurt anything?

Re: ground wire

Well, without the ground wire, you won't be able to use the killswitch ..... that's what it's for. The wire goes from the coil to the switch, and grounds when you hit the button.
