Thumbs down Billet grips for x7..don't fit very well

Anyone else got the aluminum billet grips for the x7? I removed the stock rubber/plastic grips and installed the billets, they don't seem to fit good at all. The left side does not slide over the turn signal/headlight lip. The right side fits into the throttle housing but is very tough to twist and gets stuck. I know I could and am gonna do a little shaving of plastic with the dremel to make them work, but I wouldn't recommend them for the price and the way they don't fit well. They look great but if you plan on gettin'em just lettin you know you'll need to do a little custom work.

Yeah they look nice,

I saw a set during my last adventure... I think the ends should be machined off and use a set of bar ends ( say... KOS) if you set the end play on the throttle side to about 1/16th and it still doesn't operate correctly, then the issue may be with the throttle housing (plastic portion/ and or the grip ID) itself.

Take the assembly off the handle bar and put it all together and check for proper operation, if it's stiff then the housing has plastic casting flash or mass production tolerance problems the can be fixed by sanding/and or machining.

All in all I think the grips look cool, I not into them, I'm more of a factory racer purist on stuff like that, but any aftermarket parts bought for the bikes we have sometimes fit perfectly, and sometimes they have to be made to fit...

You know that, and I'm just throwin' 2 cents at ya

Also check that the grip un-assembled and dis-connected rotates on the bar freely... maybe the bar has exessive paint, or whatever...

Hope it works for ya!
