boost bottle test

boost bottle test
I Finished my boost bottle and tuned the bike today.
I made 3 boost bottles and tested all 3 today. 4 hrs. of testing and tuning
I have a x1 its either a 43cc or 49cc - I dont know.
I made a 3-1/3", a 3-9/16" and a 3" and ended up using about 10" of fuel line hose.

All 3 bottles gave better low end speed increase but top speed was the trouble. once I found the 3" worked the best I fined tuned it by cutting a 1/4" off of the hose at a time then retested.

The 3" gave me the best of both worlds, about 4 mph gain over the other two.
I used 1" pvc. So size does matter when it comes to boost bottles.

mods:
- cut a 1/4" off the spacer in the throtle assembly this made carb open all the way.

- new boost bottle
- new air intake
- tuned the carb
stock carb and pipe

speed ? I can hit the h on mph on stock gauge so 35-38mph im guessing
5'11" 175lbs.

I have made a few boost bottles now. I have found that a 1inch by about 6inch pipe works the best for low end and top speed increase. After my X-1 was finished it had a nice low end, enough for a wheelie and I don't know how to ride wheelies and I had a top end around 50 without the nitrous. I had a whole lot of mods but the boost bottle was one of the first and best in my opinion. I have built and sold probably 15 of them and I haven't had a single complaint. In my opinion the boost bottle should be the next upgrade after a filter. The tube on mine stay around 8inches or so. Make sure that you keep the bottle above the intake.

Hey Good work on the manufacture. But I'de be lying if I didnt say it has a "ghetto" appeal to it....LOL. I would have went with the black "Zip-ties" as opposed to those hose clamps though. Anyway good work and info.
What mods does your bike have?

I'd have to agree with the hose clamps. I'd say flip the upside down so the screws are on the bottom & less noticable. Would look much better, imo.

I learned the hose clamp tip from watching Paul Jr. on American chopper.

New projects this past week. Fabricated a new pipe with a 1" exhaust then to a 3" center with changeable 3/4" tips. I have a 2", a 3", a neighborhood tip and no tip. This pipe is so loud. I also fabricated a new intake manifold from Derlin. So I will be doing some testing in the coming weeks.
