JUST GOT WALBRO CARB,JETPRO PIPE,ROCKET KEY & CLUTCH SPRINGS NOW BIKE IS SLOW AS HELL

I have just purchased upgrade kit for my x1 ninja, everything went to plan ,
fitted rocket key, heavy duty clutch spring, walbro carb with vstack & filter * jetpro pipe...
i have set my carb up using the guide on this forum with low & high carb settings, but its just got no pull away, bike idles ok but dosent have any power now from pull away & takes ages to wind up..
I checked plug its nice tan colour so it aint carb i dont think, as i does pull away ok dosent die under any throttle position and idles great..

i dont understand it! its driving me crazy

any points i may have overlooked?
i installed rocket key with cut out facing exhaust this right?

Steve

I would take the rocket key off all together. They are not suited for these engines once other mods are installed.

the rocket key works fine if you put it in the right way, and also they can somtimes fall out during installation. you may want to go back and check it out, and also i dont know why people try to say it is nogood, it may not be the biggest gain your going to see but bottom line is it WILL advance your engines timing PERIOD .

something sounds really wrong here. i would just try putting all the stock parts back on and see if it runs crappy still. if not, then try reinstalling the new parts again, and if it's crappy, then one of your parts might be faulty.

A timing advance key should be installed with the offset in the direction of flywheel rotation.

hey guys/ or 7star,

i got the walbro carb today. installed it in minutes with 4 hands!

anyway,

there are supposed to be a high and low adjustment. am i to assume, the flush mount blade type screw up by the throttle linkage (on top of carb) is the low speed adjustment? if so, what are you guys using to turn that head? a speciality screwdriver?

just a note on the carb.

i now have the juice box, billet filter/vstack/choke and carb. today my bike was hauling *** UP THE HILL! i only adjusted the side screw (the high speed screw) and not the screw up top (which i hope is the low speed) and this bike took off! i am very pleased with this carb. my take off speed can be better which is why i am asking about the flush mounted screw.

The carb you have is a Walbro WYK series carb.
The screw on the side is the high screw. The flush top screw is the low screw.
