New Cateyes Engine

I want to buy a new engine for my cateyes because the 49cc thats on it right now wont idle without bogging out, and it cant pass mid-RPM range. so i must get a new one.

i need some recomendations, nothing over 400 please. its for the cateye n my avatar. and no, nothing with a clutch, just a simple bolt on please.

Re: New Cateyes Engine

Hmm.. Have you tried tuning the carb and the idle before buying a whole new engine? look on ebay for a 49cc engine.. they only cost about 65$ including shipping, but make sure itll fit on your bike before you buy it. If you wanna spend more money, pocket bike parts . com has a 110cc 4 stroke automatic for 225$ with free shipping , that should be nice on a cat eye!

Re: New Cateyes Engine

lol, i took it apart and tranfered it to my scooter (was a 43cc) and when i took the original carb off, there was a piece of the Gasket missing, i knew i had a problem like that.

Re: New Cateyes Engine

Be aware that the 110CC might not fit - from what I've seen on this forum anytime anyone tried to change to motor to another kind it was a major rebuild - welding, cutting, re-fabricating. If you really just want a bolt on, go with a new 49cc replacement designed for the bike. You can try pocketracing . net, they have motors. Also there is always:

scooterpartsrus
scooterparts4less
partsforscooters

all *** com -

Among others to include the people on the left

Re: New Cateyes Engine

Yeah, it would be a little challenge to get it to fit, but if you can weld and fabricate i think it would be a nice little project and would be very worth it. Think, a cat eye frame is actualy lighter than an x18 or x12 frame, and the wider wheels can actualy help you more.. I know someone who has an 88cc shifter cat eye, and that thing pops straight up in each gear.. I wonder what a 110cc 4 stroke shifter can do
