Re: Put down your top speed

Bike: Son's Cateye - FS-509

Top speed so far: 29.1 MPH on Schwinn Speedo (for what it's worth) on flat paved parking lot - might be able to go higher with more distance. He weighs about 100 soaking wet.

Mods: None - Lightly tuned carb (needs more work) - Started to install Fatty Pipe and Vstack/filter but I'm having trouble with fit (see other posts). Once I resolve that, we will be trying for higher speeds.

Hope to hit at least 35 after mods and more tuning. May install Walbro carb but not sure if it will be worth it. Who knows, may be able to go higher but then accuracy of the speedo is questionable, at least that's what I've read. So another measurement method may be needed.

Okay What Ever You Say But I Do Not See A Reason To Type Every Word With A Capital Letter OR TYPE EVERY WORD WITH CAPITAL LETTERS As All It Does Is Annoy The Reader And Is A Pain To Type. If You Own That Bike Stand In Front Of It With A Sign That Says HIROSHIMA_SCREAMER OWNS THIS POCKET BIKE And Upload That Picture. It Should Not Be To Hard. Only Then Will I Believe That You Own It.

Re: Put down your top speed

I don't have a whole lot of room to ride but in about 1/4 mile I hit 52 mph gps confirmed, at like 8k rpms (according to the ghetto stock tach which I don't trust). This is a 110cc B1 Immortal, with only 1 mod: 18t front sprocket. With stock gearing, you can probably subtract about 10 mph. Maybe if I can rev it to the moon like the rest of these people on here apparently are I can add 5 or so more mph, or even hit 60mph, I don't know. Once I have money to waste, I will add the exhaust, maybe port/polish, then rev box.

Re: Put down your top speed

H2X Liquid cooled Banshee bone stock does 52mph with 185 pound rider. Does this in about 7 seconds. Needed upgrade on any pocket bike is reeds. Or on my Banshee compression kit to 16:1 will help !!! It does not seem worth all the mods you have to spend on air cooled bikes when for under $500 in prices buys a bike that does over 50+ mph I paid $450 for my bike. If you are looking for just top end go for a 7 or 8 tooth in the front....

No, other way around. Large front sprockets will give you top speed, smaller front sprockets will give you more low end. Larger rear sprockets will give you more low end, while smaller rear sprockets give you more speed. 20/32 for speed, 7/60 for low end

Re: Put down your top speed

What are you talking about? When I was talking about top end = speed. Not sure if you are talking about 110cc bikes. I was refering to stock gearing of a 2 stroke 50cc liquid cooled banshee 6/68 stock gearing. This thread was called top speed. I was saying if I change my gearing to 7/68 or 8/68 i would gain top end = speed (on a 2 stroke bike). Is top end not speed? If so i will refer to top speed in the future. And by the way i could never use 20/32 on a 2 stroke considering my powerband starts at 12,000 rpms and redlines to 20,000 so the mfg says. If i changed to a 8/68 i would be close to 60mph ???? maybe more top end or (top speed) Is your bike a 4 stroke or 2 stroke?? and did you use 20/32 gearing on your bike?
Thanks.....

Yes i know you were talking about top end. top end is speed. you said that a smaler front sprocket will give you more speed, no, a BIGGER front sprocket will give you more speed. A smaller one will give you more acceleration. And no i have no run 20/32 on my 2 stroke, but im close, 18/44, and i know people who have run 20/32

Re: Put down your top speed

what is your top speed with a 18/44. They don't make anything more than a 8 tooth for the banshee. My 3rd bearing would not clear a 18 tooth in the front. And i was saying a larger tooth in the front gives you more speed. if I have a 6 tooth and I sugested a 7 or 8. HMMMMM larger tooth faster right. If I put a 18/44 on my bike it would move so slow it may not even move at all. (DO YOU HAVE A 2 STROKE OR 4 STROKE) 4 STROKE MID BIKES WOULD USE THAT GEARING BECAUSE THE POWER BAND IS AT LOWER RPM) and if you do know poeple that use that gearing on a 2 stroke (pocket bike) what type of bike was it and were did they purchase the gearing. what is there top speed? Maybe I will learn somthing new.

thank you....

Re: Put down your top speed

I have a cat eye bike with the 18/44 gearing on it (thinking of changing it) and right now i have not had a chance to top it out. Im still buying a bunch of parts for it because im doing a compelte engine rebuild and bike rebuild because it was a peice of sht when i bought it. When its all done i will have: Custom red ported cylinder with 15:1 headstrong kit and no base gasket, walbro 603 carb, rocket key, blast box, torquer exhaust manifold, lightened clutch, race pipe, vstack w/ red turbine filter, single chain conversion, solid rear hub, lightened flywheel, digital speedo, custom engine mount, rear air shock, all nice and tuned up should hit about 50mph hopefully, maybe a little more.. After that, im gonna buy a fatty pipe for it, then look for an 88cc piston kit and bore out a cylinder for 88cc's, then it will be a beast Ill probably look for a shifter engine.. I dunno, depends on the money i make, maybe over the summer... Anyways, about your front gearing i forgot that the banshee comes stock with a 6t front sprocket, for some reason i thought it came with a 9 or 10.. I dont think its possible to fit an 18t on the front of a cag. As for my bike, im thinking of trying out a 20/32 and seeing what top speed i can get after all these mods, hopefully someting good Then ill probably go with a 17/52 or something of the sort... I dunno..

Re: Put down your top speed

Sounds like it will be a beast! Cags are junk so its cool to see that your rebuilding into a fine machine. I have had many problems with my bike. I have taken the bike apart and found that the carb on the Banshee floods very easy. Looking to replace it soon with the real polini 19mm carb. Costs about $150 the quality makes it worth it. Then I want to put on some tripple stage black widow reeds. And then finish off with a high flow water pump and 16:1 compression kit. Hope this will push me to 15bhp and raise my top speed more as well. Let me know how your bike turns out.

Later
