racing clutch spring.

My dumbass brother (pescador) decided to test out his reassembly of the clutch and flywheel after installing the rocket key. but before reinstalling the CVT. So he gets the bike started and the dumbass revs it! needless to say, he hyper-extended the clutch spring. SO, where can he find a new one? prefferably the racing kind.

obtw....hes dictating as im typing. so hes calling himself a dumbass. haha.

I bought one of those lightened clutches with the rocket spring. To my surprise the spring that came with it was exactly the same spring that I had in this box of springs that I had bought at the local hardware. It is the same color as the stock one but it is bigger in diameter. There is also another one in the box that is silver in color (like chrome) and it is the same size as the stock one. It would be interesting to experiment with them. I do have the bigger black one in my clutch and it is working fine. Sooo, Go get you one of those boxes full of springs, they are only around $4.00 for the whole box and there are like 3 of each of the springs that you need in there.

What local hardware place did you get the springs at?

You might also want to look into stiffer clutch springs custom-made for pocketbike clutches...

Yeah, they're not cheap getting these manufactured domestically was a bit more expensive than we anticipated.

$15 for a 15 cent part that is ridiculous...........robbery....
just go to a hardware store or a fastener manufacturer and pick one up.

And if you do manage to find a spring made of these materials, in this size, with this spring constant, and it costs 15 cents, PLEASE let me know as I would love to purchase about a billion of them.

Yeah.......like you would pass the savings on to the end users........I can find them.......They may be a bit more than 15 cents.......but no way would I pay $15 for a spring That is just insane.........Right now I am working in a GM die making shop. One of the suppliers Granger rep told me he can get me anything like this I need.
I am just upset at people taking advantage of the pbikers.

Actually, we would, and do. If you knew anything about the history of our company, you'd know that we are well known for making sure the stuff we sell is both high quality and reasonably priced. Try PMing Hotscoots for an independent outsiders opinion.

Taking advantage? I sincerely hope you are joking.

I, on the other hand, was completely serious. If you can find a spring made of this steel, in this size, with this spring constant, let me know. Guess I was a complete fool to have ours custom-made by one of the largest spring manufacturers in the nation

I got them at a Tractor supply store but I've seen the same box of springs at Lowe's and at Home Depot, for around the same price. By the way, I have had no problems at all with my springs being damaged because of not being some certain metal or some constant rate.....

You are right I know nothing of your companyand with prices like that I do not care to......and anyone that gives $15 for that spring should have their head examined......
I was serious......the pbikers are being ripped by the after market mods.

BTW.....just wondering how much you charge to ship that $15 item?

If that's the only item ordered, it would go in a padded mailer, US mail, for .37c

I hope you have honest, factual information regarding margins on aftermarket pocketbike parts, as well as typical margins for retail in general as well as motorsport retail, to support your claim of 'ripoffs'.

Given that I know our operating margins are even lower than those of agressive discounters such as Target (and orders of magnitude lower than retail in general) I can state without hesitation that we have never ripped anyone off on ANY sale, and never will. That's not the way to do business. Honest presentation of goods; accurate performance claims; availability of tech support, phone, and email contact; and genuine intent to serve the customer is how to do business.

If anything I have posted in this thread has been inappropriate, I sincerely apologize. Delete / edit as you see fit

I merely felt the need to clear the air on what I felt were unsubstantiated allegations of price gouging.

The whole topic has been civil...........there has not been any name calling.
I was not speaking against your company Ryan for ripping off people ........but just being real to the fact that you can find many of these parts by not looking at PB vendors but at your mom and pops local hardware store.
Save some money and learn what is out there.

You're absolutely right. For fasteners and many other generic items, the quickest and generally cheapest place for individuals to source them is from local hardware retailers.
