Smile Racing Style Clutch Mod

I'm trying to improve the performance of my X7 motor, spending as little money as I can. So I was searching threads and posts when I found D-A-N's Racing Style Clutch Mod In the How To forum. It says to drill out the 2 indentions on either side of the clutch spring and I'm not sure what indentions to drill out. I have a pic below and there are 2 different indentions. 1 of them says DM on it and the other says 2 on it. Im thinking I should drill out the ones that say Dm on it but im not sure so let me know which one it is. If anyone has done this let me know if it helped any. He said it will make the clutch engadge at a higher RPM because of less weight, and help low end take offs because of less rotating mass. I also want to replace my stock spring with a better one. Some people have said that they have these springs at hardware stores sold seperately or in boxes of an assortment of spings, if so how do I know which ones to get and what hardware store can I get them at. If I cant find them at the hardware store, which one is better and why - Black Magic or Jet Spring? One last question someone said that the Jet Spring was not meant to run with the PBU Light Weight Race Clutch is that true because I was considering getting one?

krazyqban....i did this mod LAST NIGHT!!!! i drilled the larger holes (to you the DM holes)

first i drilled smaller holes then opened them up witht he final size

i ended up doing 2 5/16 holes....i didnt want a really high engaging clutch so i did 2....you can do more if you want but make sure that your measurements are really precise so nothing is off balance

GOOD LUCK!!!!

Thanks for all the info it helps alot, but shibby where can I find the hot spring. What website can I order it from and how much is it? Also my engine is making a metal on metal noise and is somewhat hard to pullstart I cant figure out where it is coming from. Someone said it might be a broken clutch spring so I checked that and its fine. So what do you guys think it is? Thanks again for all the help.

magneto sounds like a good place to start also have you removed your estart the grinding noise could be the pullstart binding up.
