Removing piston from 49cc cat eye.


how do i remove the piston from the cateye motor i got a big bore kit so this is why i ask.thanks - sean

this is kinda hard to explain without pictures but ill do my best in words..

1) remove your spark plug boot and exhaust from the cyclinder head
2) remove the 4 bolts that hold the cylinder head on
3) slowly lift up on the head and pull it off the pistion
4) on the side of the piston you will see a hole on both sides that goes straight through, there is 2 clips, one on each side you will have to take them out with either a pick set or needle nose pliers.
5) after that you will have to remove the wrist pin and bearing inside you do this by taking something the same size as the whole such as a socket or some other tool and slowly tap the wrist pin out one side of the whole, when it comes out the piston should slide right off the connecting rod.
6) when installing the new kit make sure you scrape the old head gasket clean off so your new gasket with compress properly and use plenty of assembly lube to make sure the motor has a proper break in.
