Question Sorry Noobie Question-battery Q

Hi All,

I just got a new 2005 Rx7 R-1 Replica, i'm on my 2nd day of breaking it in, and I have been using my electric ignition starter, but now my battery is low, isnt it suppose to recharge as you are riding?? I also have a battery charger for it but I looked all over for the plug in on this bike and I cant find it anywhere can someone help?

Thanks in Advance,

romeox7

it should be next to your key and it is covered by a rubber removable cap... and i was told the pull start charges the battery while you ride not electric starter

Thats what I thought too, but they gave me a charger with it so when after pull starting it I rode for about an hour it was still low. is that weird?

the bike recharges while riding, but not the way an alternator recharges a car fully. the bike still needs to be recharged after every few rides or so. i don't own that bike so i'm not sure where the charge port is, but just find out where it is and you'll be fine.

Your bike knows how it was started? Most vehicles don't know if their pushed pulled, or electric started... Smart Bike!

my x7 is an aarvi and it does not have a charge port or a charger with it. there is a stator in the pull cable mechanism that will charge the battey ONLY when you are above a certain RPM... just idling the machine will not charge it sufficiently.. you need to ride it with for a while to keep it going...

if your bike truely does have a charger port it will be located next to the fuse. see pic attached. some new x-7s dont have the charger port at all so your charger would be useless.

Thats a good point! My CatEye has to be above 5000rpm to start charging...
